Unique DBZ Related Beliefs and Opinions

Post by FistOfTheSun » Sun Sep 27, 2009 8:48 pm

Anyone have any opinions on the franchise that the masses may not agree with? Whether it be story, power or character related?

I personally HATE it when the Saiya-jin arc, the Namek arc and the Freeza arc are diveed up into multiple saga's when to me they seem so closely linked they should be just one big arc... The Galaxy Threat Arc... or the Alien Arc... I don't know what to call it yet...

Anyway... any other odd opinions?

Piggybackin' off of that example, I prefer to call the Freeza/whathaveyou stuff simply the 'Planet Namek arc'.

So, essentially I use: Saiyan arc, Planet Namek arc, Artificial Human/Gero's Revenge arc, and the Majin Boo arc.

The name of the main villain in dbz movie 3, for me, will always be Turles. I just don't like the "Tullece" spelling. I also prefer to spell the movie 8 villain's name as Brolli. Funi's "Broly" spelling does not do it for me. >_<

Gokou is my favorite spelling for "Goku", but ironically enough I rarely ever spell it that way even when I'm off the site because the latter's just too ingrained into me.
On hiatus.

(Let's call it "The Space Empire Arc". ^__^ :D :D :D ).

I thought I had an answer a few seconds ago... where did it get to? :?

Ur, I don't like Gohan, Goten, Trunks and Piccolo dying in Buu's Earth-destroying destruction of Earth, and thus either bank on Piccolo still getting Kami's "BAMF to Enma's" privelege (despite that being unlikely), or some kinda Chaozu forcefield, or... ur... this.... ^_^

I'm sure there was something else... :(

Kami is the Japanese word for God.

I always separated DBZ into:

- Saiyans Saga (from ep 1-"To Namek!")
- Freeza Saga (Popo and Bulma's wild ride - things back in peace)
- Garlic Junior Saga (Filler) (however long that goes on)
- Cell Saga (episode after Garlic Junior saga ends - Trunks goes back to his own time)
- Afterworld Tournament Saga (Filler) (beginning of that - end of that)
- Buu Saga (episode after afterworld tournament - final episode of DBZ)

That's the way DBZ websites always used to separate them, I'm pretty sure.

Hmm, unpopular opinions. I prefer the Ocean dub to the Funimation one (though marginally, since they're both pretty bad). I liked parts of GT, especially Pan (used to have a crush on her as a kid). I hate Brolly and the Brolly movies. I like the Arlia filler episode.

That's about it, I guess.

I'm quite possibly the only person on Chikyuu who translates it.

I hear it's actually pretty common for "Kami" to be translated into the local word for "God" in DB translations. The English adaptations are just odd that way.

To me the Saiyan and Freeza sagas do feel seperate, since nothing even hints at Freeza or a continuation of the story until Vegeta is defeated.

Also, I think the Senzu plant probably came from Namek.

Well, I always call Brolly "Brolly", because that's how I used to spell it since... forever.

Despite all the discussions, it's my believe that GT takes place 10 years after Z, making Bra 15 and Pan 14. Fact that people were hitting on Bra and that she's seen driving a car makes this far more likely in my own personal opinion (screw you, perfect files! Or whatever book stated otherwise XD).

Hm, I have probably more examples like this but I can't think of them at the moment.

I just dislike the use of the term "saga" to begin with. That's not what a "saga" is.

And I like how the Japanese guides divide the story, personally.

In my opinion I think all the Viz names for DB/DBZ with the exception of the h word are perfect. I don't know many people who agree with me on this one due to names like "Cultivars" and "Vegerrot" I just think they preserve the original name’s intentions really well.

Well, I for one believe that Gohan wasn't weakened physically after the Buu saga (you see what I did thar?), but mentally weakened.
By training you increase your mental strength aswell in Dragonball, and as Gohan didn't train, he forgot how to use his powers correctly.
It's like how you can have troubles using a skateboard if you haven't used it in many years. At the beginning you are rusty, but you'll get the hang of it soon.

Not an opinion on anything, but still something that's probably unique to me; Whenever I see "USSJ" written anywhere, I always sound it out in my head as "OooSSJ", with the long O sound. No idea why.

Many people apparently think that Kami's real name is Kami, japanese for "god", when it's actually Piccolo.

...nope. Kami-sama doesn't remember his name.

Sorry for sounding ignorant but then why would he call himself Piccolo?

Becuase Piccolo was used to calling himself Piccolo, and Kami didn't know what his name was.
