Oh, man! I forgot about the Dragonbooks that come with the BDs! I wonder if, like the DBox, we'll be getting those books with the FUNi Kai releases.

What are in these books?

I'm so OCD about DBZ stuff, I like to have all the releases and now after all this time Ill have to actually make a choice.

The books are 14 pages, and so far only one has been released, so others may contain different material. The first one had an episode guide for the Blu-rays, a look at the remastering process of Kai, an interview with Nozawa Masako (Goku), and a look at the various eyecatches.

Sounds neat. Translate it and maybe expand it for an interview with Schemmel for the dub fans and you'd have a neat little book that a lot of people would be interested in looking at once in awhile.

Nive. I guess I will wait to see what both releases visibly look like and choose then and down the road pick up the other version when theres a bg price drop or some sort of deal. Since its cut so short that shouldnt take too long.

Does anyone have photos of the Bluray box from Japan?

I have a couple photos, but I will note that I did not take them myself. They were sent to me by Dan_the_Rebirth, so all props go to him. So far, the only things of the Kai home release I own are the first DVD and Blu-ray volumes.

You can also find a dissection by Tanooki of the first Kai volumes in this thread.

Ahh, great news. People were also driving me crazy with that. I'm so happy that they probably will do all of DBZ!!

Yeah, that's exactly what lot of (people including) me asumed before.....

It's good to use logic sometimes and not sitting and shouting: ''But it's not even confirmed yet!!''
Lot of people believing in god or some übergalactic mechanism including myself, but nobody confirmed it's existence yet.

Yes, now I'm satisfied 8)

Wait. What does believing in God have to do with thinking that Kai was gonna cover the whole series?

And what's wrong with searching for (or waiting for) confirmation?

99 seems to be running short, by at least 10 episodes.

If Kai had gone 3 chapters per episode then they'd need 108 episodes to get through chapters 195-519.

But the pace is somewhat behind that. At a 3-per-show pace, The Saiyan arc should have ended at episode 16, and Namek at episode 45. We're up to 44 already and Goku's hair isn't even gold yet! Porunga won't show up until at LEAST episode 50, probably more like 54 as people are saying.

So, assuming the Android arc starts at 55, unless they start cutting canon or drastically speeding it up, there is no way they'll be able to cram the last 190 chapters into 44 episodes. That's 4.2 chapters per episode!

That was my guess on the previous page as well, but you have to remember that the 99 episode count is a "planned" count. It isn't anything concrete, just basically a guess (random number) on Toei's part. I anticipate we'll see this episode count change in the future to something more concrete.

I'd like them to keep the Afterlife Tournament filler arc. Get some Super Saiyan Kaioken action, bring Pikkon back for Kai, and give new viewers a little taste of the gods' hierarchy.

@Kai_Fan:

Some filler is longer than others so they can cut longer chunks out, a big part of the Great Saiyaman Saga can go and the entire Garlic Jr. Saga and stuff like that could trim it down.

I'm really worried about how they will handle everything from Buu hatching til the end. Thats a LOT of episodes.

EDIT: I really want to see that the BR boxes will look like since they are adding a Z to it, and if they are going to keep the covers from the JP releaves or not for the DVDs.

I'm optimistic that they'll handle the Boo arc a lot better than Z did. Z had as many Boo arc episodes as there were Boo arc manga chapters. That's a huge amount of filler!

So....the BR are coming in a Box Set and the DVDs will be singles or do they get a box as well?

I'm actually REALLY thinking about buying the BR AND the DVDs if the packaging is different.

The Blu-rays are coming out in fullscreen box sets, and the DVDs are just individual discs in widescreen. The DVDs do have different cover art, but other than that, they contain no real extras. The Blu-ray box sets come with Dragon Books, a non-credit opening and ending, Kai commercials, better packaging (in my opinion), etc. However, they are a lot more expensive.
