Dragon Ball Kai: The Unofficial Buu Saga (CANCELLED)

Post by SRB2Unleashed » Tue Mar 08, 2011 12:44 am

THIS PROJECT IS NOW CANCELLED DUE TO KAI CONTINUING

Well, you guys know someone was going to attempt to make this sooner or later, so I'll try to get a jump start on it now.

Since Kai isn't going to cover the Buu saga, I figured I might as well try to make one. I got Pinnacle Studios 14 as a video editing program, so that will help tremoundously. However, I do need a lot before I can start this project...yes I do realized I fail XD

Required Materials:

- Episodes of the Buu Arc in HD
- Manga Chapters of the Buu Arc (with translations)
Anyways here are the opening and closings:

Opening: DRAGON SOUL:

Closing: ORANGE HERO:

I like the idea of this project and the stuff I'm going to get into here isn't meant to shit all over your birthday cake or anything but I feel like I should give some fair warning here.

Trying to redub the Boo saga seems to me like you have some unrealistic expectations. I understand why you'd almost have no other choice but to do this, seeing as how the music is always cutting in and out of dialogue pieces but I still feel like attempting to edit around that sort of thing would be more plausible than trying to do a complete redub. Literally almost every redub project I've ever seen that's trying to have a moderately sized cast has fallen apart around 1 or 2 episodes in, if they even get started at all. When your team is scattered all over the map unpredictability is going to take a huge toll on what you're doing. Not to be rude but even if you did get a team assembled, all submitting their work on time with consistent reasonable deliveries, quality microphones and never needing to drop out for personal issues I hesitate to think what the quality is going to be with a group of people who likely have zero real experience under their belt.

As I said it's an interesting project that has potential but maybe you should just tackle it in a different way. Good luck.

I worried about that, maybe voice actors isn't the best idea. Yeah, screw VAs XD.

Do you need the JPN Dragon Box footage? Because I have a source to it. :D
EDIT:Do you need the Great Saiyaman Saga too? Because it's from the Japanese Buu Arc.

Somebody will have to convert the files unless your video editor supports mp4.

You may want to re-think your Dragon soul Opening. No offense, but the scenes don't flow very well.

I know, it does seem a little out of place at times, I'll edit it sometime soon.

Could you use the Season Sets footage with removed grain?

Damn, I've been working on something exactly like this. Although not for the full Buu Saga, but two episodes of Majin Vegeta's transformation. I also made some eyecatches for it, as well as some title cards.

There's the opening.

And there's the title card and eyecatches. I hope the eyecatches help in someway.

Oh, Photoshop, you mean that program I used to make these?

Someone made this which I think it's pretty good, although not very Dragonball-fitting:

Yep, it's Diver by Por Nico

It's also Naruto Shippudens 8th opening.

Looks awesome for a Dragon Ball opening not to say that Dragon Ball openings are shit or anything. The very start before Goku shows up with his Genki Dama looks like it would make good usage in a Trunks spin-off. For a fan work too it look amazing although I would not jump onto the Goku/Kid Buu fight right away if I were to make this.

SRB2Unleashed if you wish to go ahead with your unofficial Buu saga then I'd reccomend you borrow this opening. Personally I'd prefer to wait for Toei to go back to making Kai again(possibly inevitable possibly not) before watching the Buu Saga and untill then I'll buy the last few Dragon Boxes or Season Sets depending whats best available for me, but with an opening like that I'd be willing to watch a fan-made work as soon as it came out each week, month or even year.

Thanks. I realized I've heard music by this band before, they did a song for FMA Brotherhood. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nico_Touches_the_Walls

You've got my stamp of approval; that the transition to the Budokai 2-3 material was barely jarring is a testament to how good they still look.

They don't really look that much worse than what Kai is already using right now anyway, I can't complain.
