King Piccolo died but Kami lived, why?

When King Piccolo died why didn't Kami die? Is it because A) Piccolo is King Piccolo's son / reincarnation? Or B) Toriyama goofed?
Often times King Piccolo and Piccolo are treated as different entities, so how is this rectified?

Because A.
Piccolo is King Piccolo's reincarnation in a way similar to Uub being the reincarnation of Pure Buu. They are the same being, but they have their own personalities and traits.

God didn't die because Piccolo Daimaos essence was in his offspring. Piccolo Jr is basically Daimao reincarnated. He has the same life force his father has.

I know before he died (exploded) he shot his demon child across the sky, maybe there was some sort of transfer in that instance. Or...i don't know... whatever.

Well, in-universe, we latter see Piccolo survive holes in his chest, so maybe the reason Daimao died was because he transferred his essence into the egg? That would explain why Piccolo is so much different than Drum, Tambourine, Piano, and Cymbol.

Right. Even though Namekians can regenerate, it seems to be a rather taxing process. Perhaps it was simply easier for Daimao to remake himself than try and fill in a giant hole in his chest.
