DB Civil War/AoU pitch and cinematic series potential?

Since Civil War has now opened in theaters, I feel it's appropriate to discuss this topic. Civil War made me ponder if Dragon Ball has a "Civil War" type of event within its story and me and my brother came to the conclusion that it does, kind of. Goku vs. Majin Vegeta. This Buu/Boo Saga fight is the closest thing Dragon Ball has to Civil War with two of its most powerful and popular characters battling it out. If Goku is Superman of Dragon Ball, then Vegeta is definitely more the Batman. And of course, Goku is the Cap to Vegeta's Iron Man. Vegeta's pride is to him what Tony's arrogance is to him.

So, basically it got me thinking about if a Dragon Ball film series was ever made. Can anyone imagine if they morphed the first Buu Saga movie into a Goku vs. Vegeta rematch type of movie. Marvel does this strategy with their movies by taking storylines from the comics and adapting them to fit what they're trying to do with the MCU. For example, Marvel made Civil War in response to Batman v Superman and in an attempt to make their own "versus movie" that challenges the ideals of its heroes. And the interesting part about Dragon Ball that makes me interested in a film series (and even wanting to work on them myself) is how diverse in genre Dragon Ball can be.

For example, Dragon Ball also has its own Age of Ultron type of story waiting to be put to the big screen with an Android Saga movie. My pitch for it would be a prologue opening up with Dr. Brief and Dr. Gero being former business partners who separate due to different goals. Eventually, Brief forms Capsule Corp while Gero becomes a part of the Red Ribbon Army. Brief reveals to the Z-Warriors that he knew Gero back in the day and suspected of his criminal nature. Gero reveals to Brief that he wanted his life (two children: Bulma and Tights) so he kidnapped two (Lapis and Lazuli) and renamed them 17 and 18. At the end of the movie, after a giant battle with the Z-Warriors against Androids 13-15 (possibly even successful and completed Androids 1-12 to add some more hype to the final battle) along with re-engineered Cyborg Saibaman (inspired from Budokai 2) - Gero's surviving supercomputer reveals he just wanted a "perfect" life and an image of a Cell prototype shows on the computer screen before it fades. Also, how similar are 16, 17, and 18 to Vision, Quicksilver, and Scarlet Witch.

As for the Dragon Ball: Civil War movie idea, the basis of the movie wouldn't exactly be a disagreement - But like the manga, it would be about Vegeta letting Babidi control him to gain power. Only in this version, Vegeta allies himself with the Majin team throughout the ENTIRE movie (until the end) to increase his strength against Goku. Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, Goten, and Trunks train to fight the Majin team: Vegeta, Babidi, Dabura, Spopovich, Yamu, Yakon, and Pui Pui (all of which are stronger in this version) - which results in a final battle: Z-Warriors vs. the Majins. Besides, Piccolo vs. Dabura (Demon King battle) and Gohan vs. Spopovich (revenge for Videl) would be kind of awesome.

In this final battle, we would see Goten and Trunks fuse to become Gotenks (who would essentially be the "Spider-Man" of this movie in terms of comedy). I guess if you really want to be similar to Cap 3, you can throw in Supreme Kai as the Black Panther type who allies alongside the Z-Warriors. I know it kind of wouldn't make sense anyway since the conflict of Buu directly involves Supreme Kai, but in terms of the mystery aspect of Black Panther - it works (Also the fact that like the Black Panther, Supreme Kai is a position that goes beyond one individual). Also, his techniques can be visually interesting in a movie. The movie ends with Majin Vegeta sacrificing himself against Buu only for it to be revealed in a post-credit scene that he survived.

So, thoughts? Like some other fans have said, I feel the material is there for Toei to make Dragon Ball the next great blockbuster franchise that can stand alongside Marvel. If Transformers can do it, Dragon Ball has the potential as well. In a perfect world, I imagine a "Dragon Ball Cinematic Series" instead of a Marvel Cinematic Universe that goes with the whole serial concept, but EVERY movie is its own movie and does not setup other movies like an Iron Man 2 did. Maybe, it begins with Goku as a kid meeting Bulma or just starts with Z and a prequel series focuses on his early adventures? Man, why do I always write these long paragraphs?

Well if the series were adapted into a movie then no I can't see them going that route with a Buu arc movie because they'd have already had Goku vs Vegeta in a Saiyan arc movie.

I do wonder if they could pull a Civil War type plot in Super though. Perhaps have an evil villain who they beat at the end and Goku decides to spare him but Vegeta says no and tries to kill him and so on.

Honestly, I knew it would turn into this kind of topic, which is why I was planning to write a quick sentence saying: We might as well also maybe turn this into a Civil War speculation topic as well. Still, even though Goku and Vegeta had already fought in the Saiyan Saga - Like I said in my last post (I might have erased this part though), it would be more about the rematch with Goku and Vegeta in their prime as full-powered Super Saiyan 2's this time around. Oh yeah, and interesting Civil War team. It'd be sad to see Goten and Trunks/Krillin and 18 on different sides, which adds to the drama.
