Lack of "Future Trunks" Promotion? Perhaps
Lack of "Future Trunks" Promotion? Perhaps
I feel like the "Future Trunks" arc of Super hasn't had much promotion. Here is why.
Look at CrunchyRoll, Super's promo image is the Universe 6 Arc. Most of Dragon Ball games are focussing on the Universe 6 arc. It seems Cabbe, Champa, Valdos, and Frost are involved in the Survival Arc and Hit got a two episode filler arc. Plus the Universe 6 Arc contributed to the FT arc and Survival arc.
Its a important arc no doubt about it, but I'm very surprised that Toei didn't capitalize more on the "evil Goku" gimmick. Their should've been more promo art for the FT arc. Goku Black, Zamasu, and Fused Zamasu don't seem to be heavily promoted much in the games.
What I'm getting at is, where is the Toei made material paring Son Goku against Goku Black? I feel like 90's era would've flooded the market with Son Goku and Goku Black pictures and nik-nacks.
So folks am I wrong and Toei has made many promo and merchandise items related to the Future Trucks Arc? Or do you agree that many of the "key players" of the FT arc have been forgotten?

Re: Lack of "Future Trunks" Promotion? Perhaps
I know that Goku Black was a DLC character or a pre-order bonus in Xenoverse and I think that some FT arc characters were DLC's for DB Fusions but that's all the promotion I can think of.

The idea that Toei has forgotten the FT Trunk's big player's is kind of absurd in my opinion. Now I can't actually talk about marketing as I don't actually pay attention to this stuff, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though. The reason why the video games are focusing more so on the universe 6 arc than the FT arc, is because there doing the DLC in order first. Heck Dragon Ball Fusions actually has the FT arc, and it's only a matter of time before Xenoverse actually catches up to it. And even then Xenoverse already has Goku Black in it, before we knew hardly anything about him.

Dragon Ball Heroes dedicated an epic trailer for the saga. I can only recall Heroes teasing a new transformation for Movie 15 and it was just an in-game scene.

I think the reason it feels like that was the show got simulcast half way through the arc. Whereas now for the new arc the show is now licensed and simulcast they can really push the marketing out as they have done.

Re: Lack of "Future Trunks" Promotion? Perhaps
Probably due to Toei wanting people to watch the show in chronological order, which would make the reveal of FT Trunks that much more surprising. With the added fact of the Universe 6 poster is more pleasing to the eyes and just shouts action and suspense.
Re: Lack of "Future Trunks" Promotion? Perhaps
The Universe 6 Arc is pleasing to look at but also misleading. Manoka isn't a main character or a support character, where everyone in the Future Trunks is. Plus for nostalgia reasons Future Trunks and a "evil Goku" on a poster are more crowd gathering then 5 new fighters. Yes their is such a FT arc poster but why their isn't more is surprising.
I was expecting a necer ending see of Son Goku VS Goku Black art, posters, and Hero videos. We got a small handful vs what I thought would be a sea of material.

I mean the entire champa arc poster is misleading the fact buu didn't fight, monaka is just there for a lame gag , piccolo is just there to make Vegeta look cool. I'm just hoping that the universe survival arc won't commit the same mistakeGTx10 wrote:The Universe 6 Arc is pleasing to look at but also misleading. Which is similar to what I was saying. The Future Trunks arc has many "pleasing" visuals to exploit yet its the Universe 6 arc thats everywhere. Maybe because it was the first "true" new arc from Toriyama? Or perhaps because the Universe 6 arc paves the way for the FT arc and US arc.

Re: Lack of "Future Trunks" Promotion? Perhaps
My guess.
The whole arc was a kinda big filler, and a little messy. Nothing more than a long boss battle with some out of boundaries idea (in the wrong sense).
The whole concept could have been condensed in one movie. Or 4 episodes.
The only way to elongate it was to continually flip back and forth without any real meaning.
It introduced 3 characters, well, indeed 1, and you get them in the videogames. Bye.
U6 introduced 8 characters (5 fighters, Champa, Vados, Monaka), that included the beloved Hit. You have that kaiohken thing. The plot was so linear that even me could understand it.
In a word, commercially speaking, investing in Zamasu as it was rendered it's a waste.
Better save money for U6 v2.0: that god tournament thing.

Re: Lack of "Future Trunks" Promotion? Perhaps
The video games were in production before the Future Trunks arc was a thing. That is why Zamasu and co. only appear as DLC. The special trailer for the arc and the Resurrection F were the two major promotions for the arc that I can think of. As for the image Crunchyroll uses, I'm pretty sure that one is being used because it actually has the main characters on it.
