Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.

I have to hand it to Toyotaro, he did a splendid job here. Very creative and nostalgic at the same time.
I also like Yoshifumi Tozuka's tribute a lot, it's a scene redrawn from a different perspective and redone in such a fun way.
Yusei Matsui's piece is also fun. He drew Piccolo and Gohan as Korosensei, which must mean that it's Korosensei himself cosplaying as the two of them at once in his Mach 20 speed
BTW, some of the images aren't displaying properly, like Tezuka's amongst others.

Gotta go with Akimoto, that one really made me smile when I opened it.
Also props to Shinohara and Saeki for some really charming takes on the original covers.

4, 6, and 8-13 were awesome, and 14 was a hilarious twist that I'm sure Toriyama would've appreciated
Toyo's is pretty great too

Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

There are so many good ones like Toyo and Oda, that it's hard to pick. I like Naho's as well. Togashi is fun, just Goku and Gon riding bikes together is pretty cute.

I think there's more than the 42 artists on here. There must be more people than this.

I think this is the coolest thing in the world. However, volu 21 and 35 are not loading for me.

From our news post every month when a new issue of Saikyō Jump is released:Vhanos wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 10:15 pm I think there's more than the 42 artists on here. There must be more people than this.
So, no, there are exactly 42 of these. The final one isn't actually even out yet (the February 2025 issue of Saikyō Jump comes out January 4th), and the people sharing it have been doing so from stolen copies. The September 2021 issue of Shueisha’s Saikyō Jump magazine kicked off a “Dragon Ball Super Gallery” series in commemoration of the Dragon Ball franchise’s upcoming 40th anniversary. The celebration aims to have different artists all contribute their own spin on the original 42 tankōbon covers, with the images and an accompanying comment published as the magazine’s back cover.

Too bad, Go Nagai never did one. Seeing that he has done manga for Shonen Jump before.

We don't talk about #30.

8, 16, 20, 24, and 27 deviate from Toriyama's typical art style in the ways I find most interesting and palatable. 11 (Kishimoto's) is probably my favorite overall.

It's kind of funny because a lot of my favorite manga authors did covers I only find "ok". I think the most interesting one is actually Volume 36 by Katsura Hoshino, the OP spelled their name differently but I thought this was her name? I think the biggest miss was not having Yudetamago make one though. I would've really liked to have seen their take on a cover like 33 and play it up like a Pro Wrestling stare down.
