I popped in, talked to Rach for a bit, then left to clear up the mess that was my task bar. So I did stay for a bit. Besides, 90% of the time neither you or Rach are actually at the computer and even when she is she don't talk much.

Yeah, I'm not the most talkative person in the world.

But yeah, there'll never be any activity if everyone leaves after a few minutes of deadness.

All you do guys if there is no activity right away is keep the window open and do something else on the computer until others come on. I do it all the time, it's not like that's a difficult thing to do. Sooner or later, others will come.

I'm not on there but I've been guilty of this

the problem with leaving it sit is that MiRC doesnt blink when new peopole start talking so just sitting there ends up not doing much, but next time I go in I'll try and give it a little more time.

Actually, laserkid, you can make it flash and/or beep. Once you're in the room (theres a place in the options but this is faster) right click on the room name tab at the top and go down the menu to flashing and/or beeping and click one or both. When somone says something it'll do which ever you have checked, or both if you have them both checked.

I realized something today, and I don't know if it only applies to me, or what.

If I'm idle for more than thirty minutes, I stop receiving text in the channel. And IRC idle time is determined by the last time you spoke or did a command on a server (which is much different from, say, AIM idle time).

There's been plenty of activity lately, but I won't see anything but joins and quits until I start speaking. Very weird.

But I guess that means the channel's not as dead as I might think, which is good, because you guys are all cool to chat with.

That problem I mentioned really isn't unique to me. I found out I was exactly right by browsing the Rizon forums.

I just wanted to give the heads up, because if it seems like the channel is dead when there's more than a couple people in there, just try talking!

Also, for the inability to connect issue: some of the global notices have said to use irc.rizon.org if you can't resolve irc.rizon.net.

I agree with Rach. There will be at least 6 to 7 people in the chatroom and everyone stays silent. It's always the same few who do all the talking and try to keep the conversation going. What's the point of coming to the chat guys if you're just going to sit there? I understand if someone's shy, but there can't be that many people that are all shy!

The place is called a "chat"-room after all.

Lately because my mom hasen't been babysitting due to the mother fidning a new job I haven't on, so now I'm only able to get on once a week. Around that time it's between 8 am and 2 pm Pacific time. Once I get my internet at home back I'll come back in again. I miss joining the trivia chats!
