Episode #0128 (
download MP3)
23:21; 64 kbps, mono; 10.6 MB
Episode #0128! VegettoEX and Meri review "The Dragon Ball Z Legend" from Cocoro Books, which purports to be "an essential source for every anime fan". What we found, instead, was a horribly-written attempt at a guidebook filled with spelling errors, factual inaccuracies, and more flip-flopping than one should ever have to read. Referenced sites:
Go ahead and grab it. Big thanks to
godofchaos for hosting the appalling
*one-hundred-twenty-eight* episodes, now.
It's a short episode this week, but hopefully one filled with a slight amount of hilarity. After listening to this episode, let me know if you'd like a future episode in a similar style with regards to "
Dragonball: an unauthorized guide".

Raditz on Snake Way... I can just hear the pencils sharpening now...
When was that so-called "guidebook" written, anyways? I can't remember if it was mentioned in the episode. Regardless, That thing is so idiotic, I have to have a copy, just for reference.

I think I've seen similar books like that for both Tsubasa and Fruits Basket.
Then again if those can get published, it gives me higher hopes that one day I could get a non-fandom, fiction book published.

This reminds of a book called simply, I think, "The Anime Encyclepedia" or something like that. I saw this in Waldenbooks or some other bookstore years ago and read through it a bit, and I was able to spot multiple errors in the entries for every series that I had seen. For Dragon Ball Z it said that the Red Ribbon Army tried to use time travel to go back in time and kill Goku. It was a fun book. Its entry for the Tenchi Muyo series was absurdly, comically biased against the series (it said that all fans of the series had been brainwashed by all the hype, or something to that effect), but ironically that was the only entry I found that didn't include any factual errors.
So what was the interview with Peking Duck like? That at least sounds like an interesting thing.
