Anime Weekend Atlanta
*glances at description for General Discussion*
Yeah, this totally fits under "Fan Culture".
For the sanity of everyone, the actual topic of conversation is beneath the dotted line, while my own ranting happens to be above the dotted line.
So!
I'm considering getting some at-the-door passes to a day or two of AWA. This decision is mostly due to my proximity to Atlanta and the Video Room schedule.
Sentai marathon? Japan's take on Spider-Man? I'm also pretty interested in Claymore, which I've heard about, but I never took the time to actually get into that particular story. Plus there's some Lupin, and nobody can doubt that Lupin is some of the greatest bits of anime ever produced. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles OAV? I need to see some of that.
Future Boy Conan? Hellz yeah!
Mech Fest? I could totally go for that.
Old-school classroom looks like it could be interesting. Plus some Osamu Tezuka stuff("Kimba! The White Lion! He's the greatest little guy in the land!").
And I'm not embarrassed to say that I'm pretty damn curious about Powerpuff Girls Z.
------------------------------------------------------
Anyway, what I'm getting at is this:
Anyone going to AWA? This would actually be the first time I've gone to the convention(it's so close to Dragon*Con, which I missed this year, and I never bothered), so anyone have anything to say about the convention and how the video rooms "work"?(I know this could end up sounding like a really stupid question....^_^;;)
Basically, the subject is the convention. You can say if you're going, what the convention is like, talk about things that may have happened previously, and fangasm over the video room schedule.
Have at it!

http://www.awa-con.com/index.php?page=video_rooms
It's badly formatted, though. The 5th video room column juts outside of the..table...thing, and in some browsers it may not show up. But you can tell.
"Video Rooms" is highlighted on the left-side menu, and under that are links to each day's schedule.

The page wasn't properly formatted for my browser, but I didn't see anything Dragonball listed...and everything else that they listed I'm not at all in to. So at least I'm not missing out on anything big in the video category, but I will forever feel sad about knowing that another dealers room was opened without my waiting at the doors.Super Ghost Kamikaze wrote:http://www.awa-con.com/index.php?page=video_rooms

Well since I'm only 15 I guess it wouldn't matter much if I was into that stuff.Super Ghost Kamikaze wrote:Yeah, I am not seeing anything Dragonball related, you're right. It's nice, though, I think. Though a Dragonball movie of some sort would be nice, I'm liking that most of the focus is on much older stuff(which interests me a lot), and a few VERY NEW things(which also interest me a lot!).
But while you're there be sure to take lots of pictures (especially of the dealers room)!

Oh don't get me wrong, I completely understand, but when you're looking for neat things to buy, it's disappointing to always see things that you could easily obtain somewhere else for a cheaper price.Super Ghost Kamikaze wrote: To be fair, the flavor of the week tends to actually have a lot of new stuff coming out.

Yeah, I was thinking you were talking about the people attending the convention, the panels, and other such things. But dealer rooms *should* have a pretty even mix of everything. Not really in the Con's control, though, usually they just charge to let certain retailers inhabit the booth.
