I disagree; to me Goku has an actual flesh tone, his eye whites are actually white, and yet it doesn't look like a modern grade like Kai is.

Most of the times even broadcast samples are good reference . It the best to take in consideration. They have a lower brightness and faded. But they are good to use them as a part of a reference pack instead of using them for more purposes.

We can separate the cels into characters and backgrounds. For the character cels, I'm assuming that there wouldn't be many variation of color palettes for each, so if we get enough samples of a certain character, we should be able to identify the number of color palette patterns used for it. Most likely not

After many many testings the past couple of days, I have come to a conclusion that the palette matching method cannot be done with one single LUT that was made up of accumulative color.

I went ahead and removed the color cast from each scene individually. Then color matched it to Kai 1.0. I need to fix piccolo some more. Theres also a lot of artifacting.

Question. Are you lot who are color correcting episodes of DB/DBZ doing every single episode or just randomly picking one to see what results you gain?

and you are the only one working right now as you seems to do such a complex task, it will be a huge task to get them as even when you find website where there is lot of cels, those often aren't well scanned or just a photo

That's a lot better.

I think the overbrightening in your CCing ends up working out on the DBox footage because the DBox footage is too dark anyway. Plus, the picture quality is a lot better than Boo Kai anyway, so the overall result is just a lot better.

Any chance of applying this to the Dragon Box footage though instead of Kai? (Note: I have not fooled around with the newer software mentioned)
