Re: Super Episode 130 (18 March 2018)
From what I'm reading, the main criticism on this episode seems to be based around the "friendship revival" moment. From what I gather, it annoyed people that the tables were turned through such a cheap narrative tool, while also being uncharacteristic of Goku at this point of the battle. ...

Re: Super Episode 130 (18 March 2018)
Are people complaining that Goku's "carrying hopes of everyone" is uncharacteristic of Goku? I'm a bit torn on this part of the episode. The rest of it I loved.

Re: Super Episode 130 (18 March 2018)
Question: Is there any way to confirm if Goku was really trying to give Jiren his energy at the end? Or was he trying to eliminate him? I've been reading around the internet, and it seems a lot of people are split on it. However I did notice that the light of his ki was the same colour from a few sc...

Re: New appreciation for Masako Nozawa in the west?
I'd say for each subsequent generation of fans for whom there was no alternative for certain material (as in, it wasn't/isn't dubbed yet) and are "forced" to then watch the original Japanese version, there's always a huge contingent that "comes around", so to speak. With Dragon ...

New appreciation for Masako Nozawa in the west?
Growing up through the 1st Dragon Ball in the west (90s-mid 2000s), Goku's Japanese voice wasn't popular. English speakers loved Sean Schemmel, Spanish speakers loved Mario Castañeda. I'd go as far to say that Masako Nozawa's original portrayal was generally treated with contempt. My experience is b...

Re: Big difference between English-Spanish subs (Episode 129)
WOW! Just wow. If that doesnt show the difference between English Goku and the rest of the world nothing ever will. I hope Steve Simmons can resolve this. I'm honestly surprised that this thread only has 2 replies. It's honestly 1 of the most meaningful lines I've ever seen in all of Dragon Ball, a...

Big difference between English-Spanish subs (Episode 129)
Spoilers Spoilers Spoilers Spoilers Beerus' very last line of Episode 129 is totally different in the English-Spanish translations. It really imo alters the thematic importance of the events in this arc. I think it's 1 of the best lines I've read in DB, and yet for some odd reason the English speak...

Dragon Ball has been a rare successful return of a franchise.
How lucky are we? When it's all said and done, the only 2 creative minds that have shown the talent to make lightning strike twice with successful reboots/"returns" are: Akira Toriyama and George Miller (Mad Max Fury Road). Every other franchise from major ( Indiana Jones 4 ) to minor ( Ge...

Re: Goku and Vegeta's Sexuality
There's a scene in Super (recently) when Trunks gives Mai mouth-to-mouth. I think it's very telling based on the way both Goku and Vegeta react. Goku: confirms that he basically never kissed Chi Chi (even once) when he wonders why Trunks and Mai's lips touched. Vegeta: is dumbfounded at Goku's quest...

Re: Interesting visual from Resurrection F and BOG
My opinion is that, visually, they're trying to show how far Goku has come with his God Form. While an interesting catch, it would be helpful if we could actually see the full move instead of just two screenshots. Maybe you should post the full clips for us. I would, but I'm not sure what Kanzenshu...

Re: Interesting visual from Resurrection F and BOG
Tadayoshi Yamamuro storyboarded this part of Battle of Gods and the entirety of Resurrection 'F'. It may well be intentional, but I get the feeling it's probably not. Resurrection 'F' tended to reuse the same poses over and over, so I feel like this is more a case of unimaginative boarding than any...

Interesting visual from Resurrection F and BOG
*Spoiler Warning* For those who haven't seen it yet. When Goku is fighting Golden Frieza, right before he does his last Kamehameha, he does the exact same move Beerus did to (initially) defeat Vegeta in Battle of Gods. Knowing how often Dragon Ball has done these subtle "mirror image" mom...

Re: Exosanime's Dragon Ball Z trailers
I actually did have a chance to view the rest, I just didn't post about it! I agree with most of your choices, as I've saved them already. I must say, it seems like he loses steam somewhere around the Cell arc. I started to enjoy them less and I really question the need for the Buu arc to be ten pa...

Re: Exosanime's Dragon Ball Z trailers
I watched the Saiyan arc trailers and I must say they are ridiculously good. The editing is top notch and retains the impact that the viewer should feel, even if you don't know the story. I'm definitely saving the rest of the trailers for later. Yeah I totally see it with the first 2 Saiyan arc tra...

Exosanime's Dragon Ball Z trailers
Exosanime is an editor from Mexico who created professional quality Dragon Ball Z trailers for each saga. He's well known in the hispanic anime community. I found his trailers for DBZ are just too good to not be known worldwide. Even if you don't speak spanish, I think you'll really enjoy them. His ...

Re: What is best episode to introduce Dragon Ball Z to someone?
I used to think that it was a good idea to show someone a comedy episode. But I find most of the humour is lost on them if they don't know the characters. The type of episode I was looking for was basically one that gives off the best "this show kicks ass" feel. And it isn't to specificall...

Re: What is best episode to introduce Dragon Ball to someone?
Good idea. That was basically my 3rd choice. Well, I'd probably go with the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai mostly for its superior animation.ABED wrote: How about the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai?

What is best episode to introduce Dragon Ball Z to someone?
I want to introduce the show to my father. Not in a "you need to watch this entire series" sense, but more to just give him a good impression of why I love this series. I've tried introducing the series with comedy episodes and found their reactions to be mixed. So, I think action is the b...

Re: Does DB Super 39 "de-canonize" Other World Tournament?
I rewatched scene. Well Goku does say "Super Kaioken" in the Other World tournament but it doesn't necessarily have to be Kaioken on top of Super Saiyan. Like "Super Genki Dama" it was the name of the technique and it doesn't have to relate with the state Goku was in. For all he...

Re: Does DB Super 39 "de-canonize" Other World Tournament?
Goku can use the Super Kaioken in the Otherworld Tournament filler was because dead body won't make you tired or drains your energy. The same as how Goku can use SSj3 while in a dead body w/o any strain. I get what you mean. But doesn't manga/anime contradict that plot-point on many occasions? For e...
