I'm pretty certain it's from the Goku vs Kuririn fight in the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai. That would put it somewhere in Dragon Ball episode 95 or 96,

My latest purchase was the UK release of season 8 of the orange bricks and a few volumes of the manga

I prefer the ending to GT it just seems to round out the series so much better with the flashback of most of the key moments then Goku saying goodbye. Not that there is anything wrong with the Manga ending but it just seemed a little rushed to me
