Re: For dub fans, how much of a deal breaker is Nozawa's gok

And Nozawa being Tullece was kinda the whole point. You lose a major aspect of the "this is what Goku would have been like if he hadn't bumped his head" idea if the character is played by a different actor. Personally i really don't like the whole "Turles is evil Goku" concept, ...

Re: Language Survey 2014

I think comparing the original Japanese version to the English dub (or any other foreign language media really) is extremely subjective since the languages are obviously quite different, so a neutral perspective should be used. For example, a few of the Japanese voice actors would sound pretty bad i...

Re: Language Survey 2014

Japanese for me. I strongly believe that every show must be watched in it's original form if possible. Well to me the English dubs of Dragon Ball Z are like a whole different show all together. Obviously people in Japan would want to watch the original English version of a show like say The Simpson...

Re: Language Survey 2014

#1-53 (+ Tree of Might) Ocean/Saban DBZ dub. The censorship edits are awful but the voice acting and Shuki Levy's amazing score more than make up for it. This dub just has this really warm Saturday Morning Cartoon feel to it, whilst also being very dark at times due to the music. If this dub was unc...

Re: What does everyone think of Super #17?

GT would not be so bad if it had a better story and made everyone who is not Goku useless. Toei loves to wank Goku since he has killed every movie villain in DBZ Movie 1 - 13 expect for Garlic Jr, Bojack, Broli (debatable), Bio Broli and Janemba. That's probably one of my only real gripes with GT (...

Re: What does everyone think of Super #17?

I read somewhere that GT was apparently meant to end after the Bebi saga and that TV Special/Movie due to the disastrous ratings, yet it kept going for some reason. That might explain why the Super 17 saga felt so incredibly rushed and resembled some over the top fan-fiction. I personally think Supe...

Re: Am I the only one who hates all these new movies?

Maybe it's just me, but I've always found it a bit harder to believe that the entire race of Saiyans was evil anyway. I mean, an entire race of people that's nothing but evil, not one single solitary member of said race having any kind of empathy for others or anything? That's pretty unrealistic (t...

Re: Am I the only one who hates all these new movies?

I don't think Bio-Broly is as awful as some people try to make it out to be. Much like GT, a lot of people just pre-determine in their minds it's terrible without making a conscious decision because everyone in the fan community says it sucks. I mean it's still my second least favourite DBZ film but...

Re: Why does Vegeta wear armor?

Because he is stuck in the past and refuses to embrace Earth's culture and customs. By GT of coarse he finally gives in and starts wearing normal human clothes, although that could be chalked up to Toei wanting to reinvent the franchise by redesigning everything in GT.

Re: Am I the only one who hates all these new movies?

Battle of Gods is about as canon as the anime fillers and movies. Yes Toriyama was involved but so were hundreds of other people at Toei. To suggest Toriyama is completely responsible for Battle of Gods and no one else had any other involvement in the story is ignorant. BOG also contradicts GT on a ...

Re: Your Perfect DBZ Release

I agree with clutchins, I'd love a set with the complete DBZ series in it's original english broadcast, that's how i grew up watching the series and i'm sure that's how a lot of others did too. That way if you watch the show chronologically the voices/music and their gradual changes feel really orga...

Re: What's your preferred tone for a DBZ story?

The tone of the Saiyan saga is just perfect. It's dark (but not too dark like the Android/Cell sagas), it's comedic (but not too comedic like the earlier sagas) and it's got action (but not too much action like the majority of the later sagas). The saga starts off dark and action packed with the ar...

Re: Was anyone else introduced to DB through Nicktoons Kai?

It's good to see there's a whole new generation of fans through Kai/Battle of Gods as well as Youtube and all that stuff. I've really been an on and off fan for as long as i can remember. I think i must of started watching DBZ sometime in the late 90s/very early 2000s when i was still a toddler (i w...

Re: Rank your favorite composer

1. Shuki Levy/Ron Wasserman/Kussa Mahehi This score is underrated in my opinion. You hear people praising the Faulconer score all the time yet no one hardly ever talks about this one. It's still not quite clear who actually composed the majority of stuff for the Saban dub, although judging by recent...
