Re: Preferring Team Four Star's parody over the original series baffles me
Yes 'necroing' cause this thread is still relevant as I keep running into these people who claim it's not only better than all dubs but better than the japanese original.
Considering that the audio quality of TFS is better than the audio quality of the Japanese dub, at the very least, TFS is ...

This is anime. The entire concept of anime's art style are the character's exaggerated features.

Re: Would you prefer replacing the VAs or having AI voices of them?
Uncle Iroh's replacement actor was not good. His voice was grating and he tried far to hard to replicate Mako instead of just playing to her own strengths.
Bugs and Daffy shouldn't be copies of Mel Blanc, either. New actors should do their own thing.
When it is finally time to recast ...

Re: Crunchyroll re-releasing Dragon Ball GT on DVD in February 2023
M16U3L2015 is talking about SD in Blu-ray (which is something only Discotek does really), it would be the same footage and quality as the current DVDs just without most of the compression issues.
I know what he's talking about. SD on Blu-ray is still on Blu-ray is it not?
Also, you don't know ...

Re: Crunchyroll re-releasing Dragon Ball GT on DVD in February 2023
I haven't bought any home releases in over a decade, but are we still on DVD? Why not bluray?
Since GT hasn't been remastered in HD, a Blu-ray release would be a very limited benefit. And it might be easier to convince people to pay more for the set if it was on more discs too due to the ...

Re: Funimation's 30th anniversary collectible home video release
I ordered the first set. It's less than $25 on Amazon right now from 1 of the sellers. At least, I hope it's a legit copy. As well as the BR upscale release of Digimon season 1. It's gonna be interesting.
I wouldn't say DB's film is unusable. It just requires more restoration & color ...

Re: Time Frame On a Dragon Ball/DBZ/DBGT HD Remaster
Edit*
I’m not talking about original distribution, I never was. How the original distribution was done has absolutely nothing to do with how a film should be preserved in High definition for posterity.
Then what were you referring to when you brought up 2k digital intermediates from ...

Re: Time Frame On a Dragon Ball/DBZ/DBGT HD Remaster
So my point still stands. Regardless if 90s and 2000s films had 2k digital intermediates…..
It is absolutely essential that this series is preserved in HD for posterity, despite the fan base wanting it anyway.
You still aren't comprehending how film distribution worked in the 90's ...

Re: Broadcast audio - similar case to Star Wars Despecialized Edition?
4K77-83 is actually much better because these were sourced from complete 35mm prints.
The resolution of 4K80 may be better than TESB Despecialized, but I strongly disagree that 4K80 is better than TESB Despecialized as you claim. 4K80's colors and lack of sharpness and stabilization is ...

Re: Time Frame On a Dragon Ball/DBZ/DBGT HD Remaster
That doesn’t even make any sense. That like saying any film made from 1920s-early 2000s shouldn’t have ever gotten an HD restoration because it wasn’t originally made in HD.
???
Analog film naturally has a high resolution and putting it in HD gives it a much more faithful look to that analog ...

Re: Broadcast audio - similar case to Star Wars Despecialized Edition?
What has been going on in the community with making the perfect release is exactly like what is going on with the Star Wars trilogy.
The community isn't making the perfect release. Have you even heard the broadcast audio before? It is far far from perfect, and never will be perfect.
Yes ...

. Regardless we need an HD restoration.
An HD restoration is a want, not a need. The show wasn't even originally distributed in HD.

Re: Extremely annoyed by English language credits and episode title cards on DB Super blu-rays.
Is this one of your first anime I take it? A lot of DB's sister shows, as well as classics done by Pioneer/Geneon, Bandai and ADV have only English credits.
Well, for me it's all about preserving the show the original way it was made with as little deviations as possible.
That's what the ...

Re: Is there any point in collecting the Dragon Boxes in 2022?
You can't see why Toei wouldn't want to do it? My man. Remastering tv shows from film isn't free. Toei would rather keep the money instead of spending it on remastering. It's not exactly a hard concept to grasp.
I like to keep my money too, rather then spend it on unnecessary things.
My man ...

Re: Absurdities of claiming that canon does not exist
IMO: there's a Tier list of "Canon" and whether something counts or not depends on if it gels with or contradicts something on a higher tier.
It goes:
1: The original 520* Chapters of Manga
(*The Trunks Chapter counts)
2: All revival era projects where Toriyama is credited as the primary ...
