Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

His role as the leader int he anime was anything but 'fluff'. If you're going to respond to me, address the points I made instead of retorting with irrelevant, poorly articulated examples that focus on isolated team-ups and have nothing to do with leading a team of fighters. I just explained how it...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Dyspo in the anime and Kafla in the manga are heavy hitters though, lol. Not only did he need Freeza's help to take down Dyspo, he was also eliminated in the process on top of that. It wasn't anything to write home about. I do appreciate him not needing help taking down Kefla, but he was still elim...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

His role as the leader int he anime was anything but 'fluff'. Especially since he saved Freeza from elimination and ordered him around in a plan that took out one of the final trio. But even before that there's other pieces throughout the tournament that show him as a confident fighter, leading the...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

He was important in the tournament, but that's about it. I don't even think that much is true. In the anime, Gohan's role as "team leader" is pointless fluff. The four teammates that actually go along with his position are the first four to get eliminated, and not long after the tournament begins, ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

I would have liked to have seen Toriyama go all the way with having Gohan take the mantle of hero past the Cell arc. Best we could hope for now is maybe a tritagonist role or something. I wouldn't mind seeing Piccolo getting incorporated into all of this because he's one of the most recognized and ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Matches Malone This is going to sound controversial and it wouldn't surprise me if you disagreed but I honestly would have liked to have seen Toriyama go all the way with having Gohan take the mantle of hero past the Cell arc. You had the foreshadowing and development of his potential going back al...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Vegeta is kept around but you could say his story was done and gone ages ago too. Given Toyotaro tends to like using those two characters specifically, they will be back around. Piccolo says letting Dyspo free would have disrupted everything. That's not the case considering they're always finding n...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

I don't know if this is literally true, but it feels like Toyotaro Uchida are convincing Toriyama to give the side characters more screen time. I think he's out of ideas for most of these "legacy" characters. Whenever these characters do something, we can almost certainly say Toyotaro or Toei is co...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

I think at least Gohan and Piccolo should be cultivated as additions since they do have the precedent and potential for it. At this point I think it's far too late for them to be included in anything besides side plots, such as the fight with Moro's men. With Goku becoming Whis' full time student, ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Broly's gotta be involved in this arc somehow. I was disappointed that he didn't appear in the Moro arc. The ending of the Broly film had me thinking that he was going to be a reoccurring character in Super's story. Nothing suggested that other than fan desire. He's stuffed away from Earth for a re...

Re: Vegeta’s ridiculous situation..

Maybe because that's a line written into what is essentially a filler episode in the midst of Super's rushed and ill-coordinated TV production? The episode-to-episode character moments of the TV series hardly ever feel sincere because the right hand can't guarantee what the left one will do, and ev...

Re: Everything Dragon Ball Super Did Right!

Gohan's development as a fighter. He's got a great balance and it shows in the writing with how serious, focused and tactical his battles have become. Easily the most interesting one to watch for me, along with some of the stuff he did with Piccolo and Goku. And no, he doesn't hate fighting. He just...

Re: Vegeta’s ridiculous situation..

Gohan should never have defeated Cell, it made people believe that everyone can get the chance to beat the main villian. thats why we have Vegeta fans complaining every arc about "getting screwed over" and "not getting his time to shine". Gohan is at least still an extension of Goku, literally. It ...

Re: DBS treated Goten and Trunks really bad

Yeah, if anyone was treated poorly it was these two. Other characters at least got to participate. Makes you wonder if someone involved involved with marketing hates them lol. They represent the target demographic yet get no screen time. Then again the target demo these days probably just boil down...

Re: Vegeta’s ridiculous situation..

Vegeta couldn't catch up to Goku after the Cell arc so this new mindset of him having to in the modern content really doesn't make much sense. Vegeta is still and will always be, a support character.

The whole thing look so incredibly randomish, filler-ish, not contextual that it look generated by random tables. -Ok, roll on the encounter table. -37 -An android. Roll again. -51 -A cool tech guy. Roll again. -89 -A movie rip off. What's movie is left? -Demons. -Ok, demons. So, the cool guy go se...

Goten. He might be the most neglected son of a main character in any manga/anime.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Why didn't the other Z fighters get medals? Sadly not important enough. I don't know why anybody wants anybody to join the Z fighters everybody who joins becomes irrelevant to the plot. Just look at 17, no MVP 17 moments throughout this entire arc. and he was not even shown for a second in the Brol...
