Re: Should Freeza have never been revived in Super?

I've enjoyed his appearances for the most part and his dynamic with Goku in the Universal Survival arc was A+ material. But I can't help but feel in the grand scheme that Freeza's return(s) have been a major case of Toriyama in general having little to no faith in believing he can create a new and ...

Re: Should Freeza have never been revived in Super?

No. He's been treated like a creator's pet, shoved into stories where he doesn't really belong, and highlighting the modern series' over-reliance on nostalgia pulls. It takes away the impact of the original series if they're constantly trotting out Freeza again and again. Would prefer to have seen m...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

It would be a grievous waste for Toyotaro to not have Vegeta's spirit training continue as a long term utility and a pseudo-philosophical frame of reference but the negligence itself wouldn't be without precedent. Does anyone here remember when Tenshinhan was undergoing intensive training in the Da...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

If Vegeta either doesn’t defuse 73-Moro with his new technique, or finishes him off after MUI Goku weakened him, then all of his training on Planet Yardrat would have been for nothing! And we would have every reason and right to complain as hard as we’d like. You don’t build someone up for so long ...

Re: DEUteragonist Vegeta served his purpose in fight with Moro, now it is our hero Goku's turn...

Strength alone doesn't dictate role in the story. In Super, more than just Goku and Vegeta had plenty of focus. Trunks arc: Trunks was the major character, treated to development and a role where he was pushed to solve his own problems. Universe Survival arc: Vegeta is benched for a good part of it...

Re: DEUteragonist Vegeta served his purpose in fight with Moro, now it is our hero Goku's turn...

We're referring to Z (and Super) as a whole. And the Buu saga still focuses on Gohan enough that I wouldn't consider the Buu saga a deviation from him as the deuteragonist of DBZ. The main difference between Z and Super is that you can't really say Z just focused on 1 or 2 characters, as certain ch...

Nebulous training. Just like every other form he got off screen.

Re: DEUteragonist Vegeta served his purpose in fight with Moro, now it is our hero Goku's turn...

I would say Buu saga is both Goku and Vegeta's story. I wouldn't say Frieza saga or Cell saga is Vegeta's story. However, Buu saga is just as much Vegeta's story as it is Goku's It's really not. Vegeta isn't even around for most of it! He's about as involved as Goku. Just because he is dead for a g...

Re: DEUteragonist Vegeta served his purpose in fight with Moro, now it is our hero Goku's turn...

The Buu saga is the literal culmination of his plot. Vegeta and Goku are deuteragonist because they have this long plot of Goku breaking through to Vegeta and Vegeta changing. That's why the final battle is Goku and Vegeta vs Kid Buu, that's why Vegito happens. I see half of Z as the story of Gohan...

Re: DEUteragonist Vegeta served his purpose in fight with Moro, now it is our hero Goku's turn...

I Z he was absolutely a deuteragonist. Super however I could see a debate there. As the plot is heavily sculpted around both Saiyans gaining the power to challenge Beerus. Especially in the Manga. Why would you categorize him as support? Just curious. No he wasn't. Goku was the sole main character ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

I'd see this fight against Moro lasting at least 2, probably 3 more chapters. Any longer than that would be dragging on, but that's enough time for a satisfying team-up against Seven-Moro that ends in a possible final bout (quite possibly with Vegeta separating them.) It's already dragged on. 18+ m...

Re: Anyone still hopes for Goku and Vegeta to make themselves scarce for an arc, or two?

I still want to see Goku and Vegeta, but I would like to see the new characters around them like Caulifla, Kale, Cabba, Hit, Jiren, ect ... Now is the time to retire the old characters like Gohan, Krilin, Android 18 and 17, ect ... They have been enough developed with the old series and movies! So ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

No, that happened for other characters observing Vegeta. You understand that other people believing Vegeta did enough to redeem himself doesn't mean Vegeta thinks that, right? You do realize Goku telling him that he was revived by Porunga because Porunga considered him good isn't just magically goi...

Re: Anyone still hopes for Goku and Vegeta to make themselves scarce for an arc, or two?

They wouldn't dare. And by that I mean they quite literally would not dare. Super plays almost everything safe, and one of the most unsafe things you can do as a writer is removing the protagonist and deuteragonist from the equation. What we're currently getting with Vegeta is probably really pushi...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Resurrection 'F' did happened and he was confronted by the man who not only blew up his race, but also is basically everything he hates about his past self. Yet, in that moment, Vegeta treated Freeza, a new toy to play with or that annoying guy that came back to life. I agree, Vegeta should've had ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

I honestly don't like the idea of SSG Gohan, the only hybrid Saiyan who should receive god imo was Future Trunks. Trunks getting SSG would have gone against the themes of mortals vs gods in the Trunks arc. He needed to win with his own power. Do you not consider SSSS Vegeta as his own power, he see...
