Re: Recognizing the Underrated Genius of Shunsuke Kikuchi

Nippon Columbia knew damn well that collection that they released with the words "Great" and "Complete" in the title wasn't really quite "Complete", yet the released it as that anyways.

Re: Recognizing the Underrated Genius of Shunsuke Kikuchi

It's pretty sad his entire catalog of DB/DBZ has not been released. It deserves all of that and then some.

Re: The Current SAG AFTRA strike and dubbing

The pessimist in me says that this could be a forever strike. Why? Because the studios LOVE AI. They won't stop gushing over it.

Re: AB Video to release OG Dragon Ball on Blu-Ray

The Slump Boxes did this too, at least with some of the Hoyoyo discs. Another one to add to my list that kept the original order on DVD would be Wing-Man (Ryo Horikawa's first Anime). Strangely enough, Saint Seiya always had the preview after the credits. I know this from watching a couple of origi...

How long has the franchise been cursed? I'd say ever since the Ultimate Uncut Edition DVDs were suddenly and unexpectedly cancelled by Funimation.

For its countless faults, the music for GT seemed to take on a more emotional approach.

Here's a question I don't think has been asked before: Why don't they re-score Kai 1.0 with Sumitomo's compositions? Or would that have been a budget-buster?

Re: The idea of Redeeming Nappa. How do you feel about this?

When Nappa briefly returned in GT, they, dare I say, missed an opportunity to have Vegeta say that he had undergone a fair amount of changes since their last parting.

Besides the title card, eyecatches, and NEPs, what other Yamamoto tracks were leitmotifs of others? The ones I mentioned were leitmotifs of Dragon Soul and both 1.0 ending themes.

Re: Aren't they worrying the original Seiyuu's not going to be with us forever?

I know it's "easy" to replace voice actors but the problem is with Japanese conservative culture.. I've heard in the past they simply stopped producing certain animes if it's iconic seiyuu's died, out of "respect". Hope this will not be the case with Dragon Ball if main voice ac...

Re: Kai coming to Hulu on July 1, 2023

If the entirety of Kikuchi's BGM had been converted to digital, this would be forgivable. But because it hasn't, and it's pretty clear that it hasn't (don't even get me started on the false advertising that was the "Great Complete Collection" from 1994), it leaves a lot to be desired.

Do you expect a conservative country like Japan to utilize AI? I don't think so.

Re: Reasons you want the weekly anime back.

Over on GameFAQs, which I also frequent, I asked why hasn't the Anime continued. I was told that the ratings were fine, and they were supposed to return to it after the previous movie, but due to COVID, those plans were put on hold.

Eiichiro Oda & Akira Toriyama working together (2002)

While trying to google photos of Toriyama making a physical appearance before going into seclusion, I came upon this image. It's Toriyama working together with the creator of One Piece in 2002. I checked to see if it had been previously posted here before I did so. His profile is somewhat obscured (...

Supposedly, Toriyama said he wanted to do a chapter where Goku became a kid again. Don't know where he said that.

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 6/26/23!)

I am interested in hearing MistareFusion's thoughts on the last villains in the series, the Shadow Dragons. Does he think of them as a nice little twist? Or as an asspull contradiction of Roshi's fine speech at the very end of the original series on the importance of the Dragon Balls?

Re: Things that the various English DVD & Blu-Ray releases did better than the Japanese ones?

Most would make a case for the ill-fated Level sets, in which the remasters looked closer to the original cels than even the celebrated Dragon Boxes did.
