Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Holy shit this chapter was actually very good! Some solid character interactions and progression to not only the plot of the arc, but the plot of Dragon Ball! Finally this no longer feels like filler to me, and I’m actually very intrigued to see what’s happening next. I am not so sure I like Goku al...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

When did Nagamine say that ? Can you post an interview because i don't recall him ever referencing or mentioning KK and SSBE's non-inclusion in the movie. This is the interview I had in mind: https://www.kanzenshuu.com/translations/vjump-january-2019-nagamine-interview/ but reading it again I proba...

Re: What do you want the next DragonBall series to be like?

The intensity of the fights has to pick up. It doesn't have to be bloody, but I want to see people exhausted and bodies wrecked by the end of a battle. Could the effectiveness of the Goku/Gohan/Kuririn/Yajirobe vs Vegeta fight in this regard ever truly be recaptured I wonder? It's so good, I'd love...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

It’s hilarious how we are still discussing what’s more canonical between the manga and anime. The Super manga fans are a very niche group who feel validated by the fact Toriyama checks its storyboards, forgetting he also checks Heroes manga ones and also checked Yamcha’s side-story manga - does it m...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

These chapters are not slow because it’s a monthly manga. Not when many chapters from Toyotaro in the past have been fine and, in fact, people hardly complained about the manga’s pacing in the past. Not that it was any perfect, and at times the pages got too cluttered with dialogue and useless panel...

Re: Db manga adult Goku is very much different from super anime goku

This is clearly not just Toei’s fault considering Goku acted like he did in Super in the movie which was written by Toriyama. It seems like after 20 years Toriyama has a slightly different idea of Goku, but it’s also true that Goku has always acted a bit differently based on the situations he found ...

Re: Dragon Ball Super's Filter

The fact people can so easily replicate the filter used from episode 77 onwards is proof that it was nothing extraordinary, while the line-art filter used in Broly so far has been sort of replicated by some people but not perfectly. Turns out that the filter is actually good drawings and animation....

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

The filler nature of this arc makes me quite sure that there’s no way Goku will be mastering Ultra Instinct here. Apart from the gags, this is clearly a Toyotaro arc which is shown by the designs of the new characters, which are clearly not Toriyama’s. The pace is also much slower than it has ever b...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Random and scattered thoughts about Chapter 51: - Meerus is still draining planets and still hasn't got a single iota of charm or depth to his character. Meh. - The Galactic King feeling naked without his crown cracked me up. - Jaco is still very funny. - Vegeta taking his own initiative to deal wi...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

I have mostly liked this chapter. I’m glad that Goku and Vegeta have been divided and it’s nice to see them tackling the problem in their own way. It was also great to see Moro’s subordinates go around causing havoc in various planets, and the thieves are going to Earth so it could be an occasion to...

Re: Dragon Ball Super's Filter

The filter was very bad in some places (ex. Kaioshin’s planet), but actually looked fine in others. I would rather have no filter though, except for the line-art one which is always welcome and which they were able to improve upon in Broly’s movie. The fact people can so easily replicate the filter ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

I am still waiting for the chapter that makes all of this arc stop being filler. Unfortunately I still think that the training Goku and Vegeta will be doing will just be to learn some stuff useful only against Moro, but I will be happy to be wrong. Reading that the two will be training is exciting t...

Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread

Okay, this new information is incredibly hyping. Extra story with Gohan and 16 sounds absolutely insane, in a good way - especially if Toriyama is behind it! And not only that, but it seems like we will get new characters too, which is incredibly interesting. This game is definitely a must buy for D...

Re: What do you want the next DragonBall series to be like?

I hope the serie can be the equivalent of what DBZ was to DB: darker, grittier, more serious and with higher stakes. There was barely a change in tone between DB and DBZ especially in regards to the latter half of Dragon Ball. There was due to the presentation. In fact the reason why we got DBZ and...

Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread

Apparently, the game will be released by the end of march. I just went to see how much it costs to pre-order it and I found this "This item will be released on March 31, 2020." This is a placeholder date which fits with their projected release of Q4 of the fiscal year. The release date will probabl...

Re: What do you want the next DragonBall series to be like?

I hope the serie can be the equivalent of what DBZ was to DB: darker, grittier, more serious and with higher stakes. To accomplish this I think they must go after the end of the manga, so that there can be more tension. Of course good animations, Shintani’s designs and a better schedule will help al...

Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread

It’s nice to have confirmation that his game will be going up until Buu. I wonder if it will have some sort of BOTW-like epilogue showing EoZ, but reverting to the end of Buu arc after going through it? Anyways, knowing that this game won’t stop at Freeza is a big relief and sets in stone my decisio...

Re: The rise of 80s anime art

Yet Shintani with "flamboyant" and "free-flowing" artsyle gave me TB patient Goku & mostly off-model looking lanky hero That’s funny because Goku actually looked more muscular in this movie than he has been since the 90s apart from some rare instances. He also wasn’t mostly off model. If we have to...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Can Goku stop acting surprised every single time? He seems a coward in the manga. That’s not how Goku ever acted in front of a threatening situation. He should be more like he was in the movie when Broly and Freeza reached Earth. Toyotaro is forgetting that Goku is supposed to be stoic. He’s no Dek...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

The pacing keeps being terrible. There was no point in showing the whole prison outbreak and it was largely uninteresting and the kind of filler I would expect to see in the anime, not the manga. Toriyama used to get straight to the point and cut all the unnecessary fluff. I get that Toyotaro is pro...
