Re: Manga UK Releasing DBZ Blu-Rays and Steelbooks

For anyone worried about whether or not these Blu-Rays will get a standard non-steelbook release in the US you could always import these. From the Zavvi listing if you zoom in on the discs you'll see the region coding appears to be A/B If in doubt you could always contact Manga UK on their various s...

Re: Dragon Ball Rewatch, Week 37 - DBZ episode 8-12

Watching these episodes I often feel like I prefer the Z version of the Saiyan arc to Kai. Just so much great development for these characters that was glossed over, despite the pacing for the series overall being much better. Episode 163 - Don’t Cry Gohan! His First Fight (Z Episode 10) Tonally thi...

Re: Why the Dragon Ball Super's Manga release so slow ?

I honestly prefer it being slow. As someone with a strong preference for physical books I like the breathing room my wallet gets (only collected volumes 1-5 so far). I also like the fact we're not oversaturated with new content but getting it at a pace I can keep up with.

Re: Dragon Ball Z 4:3 Steelbooks

I'd say, only "hope" for proper, not limited 4:3 DB/DBZ/GT release, is Discotek Media, unlike Funimation, I'm almost 100% certain, they would prepare best possible release, maybe even with broadcast audio? :) If they could use laser disc footage for Project A-Ko, then I'm sure they would at least a...

Re: Dragon Ball Z 4:3 Steelbooks

It’s really dumb that I’m considering these, mainly because I have all of Kai and am happy enough to keep the English dub of that. I do like the look of the steelbooks though. Hey man, if your a collector and are managing your finances right don't feel bad about it. Dragon Ball wouldn't have had th...

Re: Dragon Ball Rewatch, Week 37 - DBZ episode 8-12 (CURRENT WEEK)

Well, I've realized I may not be able to get through my reviews for all five episodes before Week 38 so I'll just post what I have for now, and I will get back to Episodes 163-165 later. I also have my Dead Zone review in note form that I plan to sort into paragraphs with an introduction and conclus...

Re: Dragon Ball Z 4:3 Steelbooks

I'll bet you dollars to donuts these stay in print and/or are replaced with a non-steelbook version I would say so too, but I also wouldn't be surprised if Manga UK re-release these discs in standard amaray cases. They've had constant demands on social media to release DBZ on Blu-Ray and they never...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" Dub Turns 10; Still Unreleased

I heard a rumor that Bang Zoom was originally supposed to replace Funimation for DBS and that was why the FUNi VAs were pissed. I very much doubt there ever was any truth to the rumour. I remember back in 2015 when the reports of an English dub for Asian territories came out some YouTubers were jum...

Re: Favorite cover art

Speaking as someone who has a great affinity for all things home video and physical media, especially as it pertains to Dragon Ball I love them all. When I look at each cover I remember a time in the franchise's history, where I was at the time, the stories behind that release (as stated above the U...

Re: Dragon Ball Rewatch, Week 35 - DBZ episode 3-7

Episode 156 - Alright! This is the Strongest Combo on Earth! (Z Episode 3) For the most part this episode was enjoyable, but mostly as a bridge between the monumental revelation of Goku's origins and his first fight after that where our hero comes to learn what the saiyans have in store. The tone i...

Re: Dragon Ball Rewatch, Week 37 - DBZ episode 8-12 (CURRENT WEEK)

As much as I love Kai, I do agree with the sentiment that the removal of the filler in these episodes was to it's detriment. The robot episode, Yamcha playing baseball and Arlia were all good stuff for showing these characters' respective journeys throughout the arc that I always look forward to rev...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" Dub Turns 10; Still Unreleased

I really want to be optimistic about this because Sailor Moon is another TOEI property and the streaming revenue it brings in should help launching the linear channel. Also, as far as I know Kai has never been on any streaming platforms other than catch-up ones for broadcasts, so them not getting it...

I unfortunately can't find a clip on YouTube, but I really love Garlic Junior's speech when he's granted immortality in the Pioneer version. Don Brown's performance there just sends chills down my spine, it's that good.

Re: What one change would you make to the franchise ?

I'd love it if Discotek had the rights, and dubbing was outsourced to Okratron and Ocean for broadcast/streaming in the US/Australia and Canada/UK respectively, maybe Bang Zoom for Asian/African territories too. Also, for the home releases we'd get uncropped video with the raw masters, broadcast aud...

Great movie, I'd say it and World's Strongest are among the few Dragon Ball movies that are perfect. Just everything, the visuals, the action and the score are all top notch. I still remember when OG Dragon Ball finished up on Toonami UK in 2004 I always wanted more content set before Z when Piccolo...

Re: Does English Dragon Ball need higher profile actors?

We also got Peter Mayhew in the GT Special, so there is always the chance of a cameo here and there from actors of that level of fame. I wouldn't necessarily say they would be needed for main roles as Funimation's cast are fantastic as is, if it happens, great, if it doesn't, no big deal either.
