Re: Because Toei did not do a bluray of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z until today and they will do at some point?

Yeah, for me the question is whether Toei (and other anime companies) release Blu-Ray sets of anime that have 400+ episodes. One Piece? Naruto? It could be that the sheer volume of content puts it out of bounds from Toei's perspective. The original 3 DB anime are actually over 500 episodes. They ma...

Re: Because Toei did not do a bluray of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z until today and they will do at some point?

It just seems like TOEI doesn't think its worth the investment. They did the movies and specials because its less content and less work for them. They are the only company with film masters for OG DB, but because its no where near as popular as Z and Super and doesn't feature any of the characters w...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" CONTINUATION - (Non) Announcement & Discussion Thread

I don't know why everyone is setting deadlines to be start doubting a new series is coming. If anything the fact a new movie is in the works opens up many doors. Super could return any time before the new movie and it would get people hyped again and watching to be caught up before their cinema trip...

Re: Should the episodes of SDBH air on TV and/or get a DVD release?

I agree with Ajay , broadcast and streams are temporary, physical media lasts forever as long as you take care of the discs. I'm a collector at heart and always looking for new titles to add, but anything Dragon Ball especially. Unfortunately I can't see it happening unless I hear something concrete...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" CONTINUATION - (Non) Announcement & Discussion Thread

Correct me if I'm wrong about this, the foreign markets do make up a large part of DB's revenue, yes? And it's not as though the Heroes anime is being released internationally. So if that's their strategy...it's a pretty bad one. Although Heroes isn't in foreign countries, other popular games and m...

Re: Dragon Ball Super To Air in the UK on Pop!

According to this, Pop TV has the rights only for the first 52 episodes. When Kai was announced for Kix they apparently only purchased the first 53 episodes but it did well enough for the remainder of the first run to air. I'd imagine it will be a similar case for Super. I reckon coming off of Brol...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

assuming Toei doesn't soon come out with their own restored version on Blu-ray down the road Unfortunately I feel that this would have happened by now. Z's 30th anniversary has come and gone. TOEI could have used it as an opportunity to promote their own remaster but they promoted Funimation's rele...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Time definitely played a part in the Level set's failure. When you consider the fact all 9 Orange Bricks, 7 Dragon Boxes and Kai were released in a 4 year timespan and so closely together its understandable not everyone had the money for the Level sets. If the Levels started being released in 2013 o...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

It seems as though they just can never get it right and drop the ball almost every time since 2007 and that in turn just makes you want to shake your head. They could if they wanted to. The problem is that too many fans are supporting these broken releases which gives them a financial reason to not...

Re: Is anyone still hoping for an international Blu-Ray release of TOEI's movie masters?

I do however hope that one day we can get a Blu-Ray release for the original DB, either from Toei or Funimation. Funimation won't do it, they only have digibetas for OG DB so it would look like an upscaled DVD at best. Maybe if TOEI took the initiative to remaster DBZ themselves instead of handing ...

Is anyone still hoping for an international Blu-Ray release of TOEI's movie masters?

This is something I've been thinking of lately with all the disappointment over Funimation's 30th anniversary release of the series, and the fact TOEI don't seem to have plans for their own remaster, and to a lesser extent Super seemingly set to return later than the vast majority of us expected, wh...

Re: Dragon Ball Super To Air in the UK on Pop!

Yeah the episode was as good as I thought it would be, I know Sabat said he was hoping they'd never use the edited dub but I never thought that was because it was terrible, moreso because Toonami, which was the only channel to air Funi Super at that time picked up the uncut version so why settle for...

Re: Does anyone ever actually watch the Z dub with the Kikuchi score?

I'm always amazed by the amount of people who prefer the original 1996-2003 dub to the remastered dub. It just makes the 30th anniversary home release feel that much more unnecessary as they had a perfectly viable market Funimation could have gone for if they weren't making a release for the purist...

Re: Dragon Ball Super To Air in the UK on Pop!

I'm home from my early shifts in time for the 7pm timeslot, so I'm definitely going to catch the Pop broadcast when I can to do my part for the ratings. Setting any I miss to be recorded as it will be interesting to see the edited dub.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

I find Super to be more of a fun series than one with a great, compelling story. I'd like it to have some of the latter, but its still one hell of a ride when you don't take it to seriously and just want to be entertained. Hard to say what we will get from 2uper. I think there's a good chance it wil...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread

I'm really enjoying the addition of Veronica Taylor, but overall the dub is just reminding me how much this arc drags. Far longer and padded out than it needed to be.

Re: 2019 Dragon Ball Predictions

Time for the mid-year review: 1. The return of Dragon Ball Super will be announced in January for a July release I was thinking it would be announced while Broly was playing to keep the momentum going, as of now I'm expecting to be wrong about Super returning this year at all, but we'll see for sure...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" CONTINUATION - (Non) Announcement & Discussion Thread

In my opinion, Dragon Ball Super will come back in April 2020, when Gegege no Kitaro's season 2 is over and this time there is a good chance that it will be the case since Kitaro never made more than 120 episodes. This is the only niche on which we can theorize. XD I honestly wouldn't mind Super no...

Re: Dragon Ball Super To Air in the UK on Pop!

I'll be honest; I'm a little disappointed it's the Funi dub. Still, the channel's owned by Sony, so I guess it's to be expected. Though that didn't stop me from sending them an email asking them about the possibility of airing Ocean and/or Bang Zoom dubs of Dragon Ball material, rather than F...
