Stephen Chow did an ad for the Animax broadcast of Dragon Ball many years ago.
Shame theres no audio in the clips. Would be great to hear even a snippet of Andrea Kwan's kid Goku.

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions

Ronaldo is well past his prime, probably should have quit while he was ahead as he has made no difference to the Portuguese team this year.

I think Messi may have one more World Cup in him, obviously he's a little bit younger than Ronaldo and his decline hasn't been as steep.

Re: Weird Old Dub Stuff

If the actors had been given a pronunciation guide, then what was going on in the Japanese audio would be irrelevant as far as they were concerned. The actors had one job to do, and the translators, ADR writers, etc. had their own jobs to do.

Besides, I don't think they always had the Japanese ...

Is the purpose of this post for us to proofread the information in there?

Just thought it would be nice to have all the information we know about Kai, Super and Daima in one thread. I'd be happy for some fans to learn from my posts and for others to add information if I missed any. I also ...

Re: Weird Old Dub Stuff

In terms of the pronunciations, I don't sweat them that, nor do I care about most them. Kaioken was one that SHOULD'VE been pronounced right in the first place, but the Canadian cast fucked up on that &, thus, the Texas cast did too for a while because, y'know, it's King Kai's technique.

You ...

Miss Portugal 1997
She was mentioned by Goku in the European Portuguese dub

Miss Spain, Russia, France and Australia are also mentioned by Roshi and Oolong in the Funimation dub of Dragon Ball Z movie 7.

Yes, but which ones do they refer to? At least with that Miss Portugal 1997 , Goku ...

Re: Weird Old Dub Stuff

I'm just talking Z. The OG DB dub is mostly fine & GT, who cares?
But if you re-dubbed Z 'from the ground up' you would then have inconsistencies with the Dragon Ball and GT dubs. Either that or you'd still have to compromise in some places in the way that Kai 's dub had to. They weren't ...

Re: Historic voices of adult Goku and Vegeta: the first and the last time they voiced the characters

Dave Bridges played adult Goku in the Animax dub of original Dragon Ball, I asked him when it was recorded and he said around 2005 or 2006 so since Bridges was born in Georgia, USA in 1982 he would have been 23 or 24 at the time.

Re: History of Dragon Ball in North America: The Classic Anime Series

So the US aired the English, Spanish and Japanese versions?

Yes.

Are there any other countries that hosted 3 more different language versions?

If you count channels that were available through satellite providers, yes, as RTL II the German channel was seen in various European countries, and ...

Re: Would Dragon Ball be successful in English-speaking countries if the old English dubs weren't Americanized?

2. FUNi & Ocean-produced DB dub episodes 1-13.

Ocean had nothing to do with BLT, that dub just uses the same cast associated with Ocean Studios but all the actors are freelancers. It was recorded at Dick & Rodgers Studio with post production done by Josanne B Lovick Productions but Ocean ...

Re: If they had never created Dragon Ball Z Kai do you think we would have some re-dubs of Dragon Ball Z now?

Don't think most dubbing studios would have bothered to be honest, like Denmark got a dub in 2002-2006 but then reran it in the early 2010s rather than doing a new dub.

I think it would have been interesting if territories like Croatia and Macedonia got redubs of Z like Serbia did since I believe ...
