Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?

Yeah, the censorship sucks. BUT , having these is a great way to document the different releases. Always thinking of the bright side lol Exactly my line of thinking. Honestly, I'd love to pick up those remasters, they look beautiful for the most part and have awesome covers but will probably wait f...

Re: Dragon Ball rewatch, week 2 - DB episodes 6-10

Monster Carrot is very Toriyama in both aesthetic and in his tactics, so while filler, this episode still fits with this first arc of the series like a glove and flows perfectly with the search for the Dragon Balls. I feel the episode is important in the context of early Dragon Ball because it's an...

Re: Dragon Ball rewatch, week 2 - DB episodes 6-10

Episode 6 - The Midnight Visitors Good banter between heroes and down time for the viewer to familiarize themselves with them. In particular the bickering between Bulma and Oolong and more of Yamcha's foolishness is wonderful character building. Very entertaining and funny episode from start to fini...

Re: Personal Thoughts on the Ocean Dub

I would definitely agree with all of those who said the Vancouver cast had huge potential but they didn't have enough time to grow into their characters like the Texas cast did. The one thing I'll give him that he has over Corlette, he has more energy in his delivery which Goku needs. True, honestly...

Re: Dragon Ball rewatch, week 2 - DB episodes 6-10

I'll post my thoughts on these episodes in due time, but what I will say for now is the more I go back to these episodes the more I love the character development and how each one gets appropriate screen time for their role in the story. So many great character moments from everyone involved, and a ...

Re: Personal Thoughts on the Ocean Dub

I mean, they have their flaws, but so do all Dragon Ball dubs, but I would still say there's a lot to like in the Ocean Group dubs. I personally grew up with them, and I have a lot of nostalgia for many of the voices and the music, although I would still recommend them. I find both the Saban and Wes...

Re: Dragon Ball rewatch, week 1 - DB episodes 1-5

I forgot how great a trio Goku, Bulma, and Oolong make. And the way they play off Yamucha as a light villain is great. Yeah, it's pretty great. Helps that they all have different backgrounds and are completely different characters from one another. Yamucha the desert bandit's weakness is that he ha...

Re: Dragon Ball rewatch, week 1 - DB episodes 1-5

So I started the rewatch, and it is my pleasure to share my thoughts on revisiting these first 5 episodes. Episode 1 - Bulma and Son Goku Wonderful introduction. Sets up all the characters nicely. We see Goku's nievety, Bulma's smarts and the comic relief of other characters in this world. Very stra...

Re: How would you compare Dragon Ball’s revival to something like Star Wars?

The one thing about the sequel trilogy is the memes like palpatine getting laid like what? Because apparently now he had a kid... even though Pablo Hidalgo said he had none back when fans were asking him on Twitter if Rey was a descendant of him. Thankfully we didn't get these kind of retcons from ...

Re: What if dragon ball was a comic book series?

Pretty sure there was a thread about this not so long ago with reimagined designs for the characters.

Personally I don't think it would work that well as Toriyama has a very unique art style even among Mangaka.

I've contacted Netflix UK. I told them the situation with Ocean Kai, and the rep passed the info on. They then encouraged me to get as many people as possible to Tweet Netflix of the UK and Canada. So, ladies and gentlemen, and everyone between and beyond, please help me out in one more effort to g...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread

I'm fine with Super being off the air for a while. I still think at some point it will return, if only to adapt Moro and other arcs that may come in the manga. Wish they would do it seasonal whenever those arcs get animated. I'd love to see Dragon Ball looking better on TV than it ever has.

Re: How would you compare Dragon Ball’s revival to something like Star Wars?

I'd say with Battle of Gods and The Force Awakens both franchises returned on the right foot retaining the heart and spirit of their original incarnations. With the addition of the Tournament of Power and Rise of Skywalker I still find both entertaining but underwhelming in story and narrative. DBS ...

Re: Why hasn't Funi released the 2018 remastered movies yet?

They may still release them. They will have all of Super out within a month and for all we know even if 2Uper gets announced we may end up having to wait before Funimation licenses it. The movie remasters could be released as a stopgap, there's plenty of OCD collectors (myself included) that would r...

Re: Manga UK's cover of "Dragon Ball GT: The Complete Series"

If anyone is interested in buying this set it's available on Base.com for £17.39, alternatively there's Season 1 and 2 for £11.29 and £10.99 respectively. Regardless of any other problems these releases have that's a great deal for 64 episodes. I remember it was available for $25 in Walmarts and thi...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

You're really misrepresenting the situation for Geekdom. I remember most of what was said in the videos & he did NOT shill the season BRs. At all. The most he said that was positive was , "they're cheap & slightly better than the orange bricks," but he wasn't advocating people actually buy them, on...

Re: 10 Years of Dragon Ball (Z) Kai (2009-2019)

At first, it really seemed that way, Sabat and others even talked about how happy they were they can make proper dub this time, but then, music scandal came, and after that, i ve felt like they stopped caring (There was lot more dumb mistakes post Freeza arc) i might be wrong of course :) That’s mo...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

I hope they know what they bought. Think a lot of people just wanted A 4:3 release of DBZ, not specifically THE BEST 4:3 release possible. Those are the fans this set panders to. Unfortunate thing is that in a few years we will get another "definitive" release that is "less terrible" than this one ...

Re: Found a few rather cheap Ebay Deals of Dragon Box 5

That's still expensive. If you were lucky to get all 7 boxes for around that price it would still come to upwards of $700, and considering the fact the Dragon Boxes were available at $35 a piece during their run these sellers still get the last laugh. If you want it, that's your call and if your hap...

Re: Original Dragon Ball anime to be released on Blu Ray in Spain

This release seems quite nice! A slightly improved version of the DB Dragon Boxes. I hope the DBZ/GT ones get this treatment someday. I most certainly don't hope any licence holders do this! I want a true remaster in true HD! But I'm in for fans doing it. Agreed. If a licensor is going to put out t...
