Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" Dub Turns 10; Still Unreleased

Such a shame Kirby Morrow won't get to hear Richard Ian Cox's "uncool" performance as Goku. RIP

Re: Kirby Morrow, Third Canadian Voice of Goku, Passes Away

This is really tragic news, he was a big part of my childhood. Sadly not too many US DB fans will appreciate the work he did as it was only broadcast in the UK, Netherlands and Canada but I for one am devastated. The lack of any Westwood dub home releases didn't help. Sadly now even if it got a DVD...

Re: Manga UK Releasing DBZ Blu-Rays and Steelbooks

So is this release just the orange brick footage with all its flaws, but in 4:3? I have the Dragon Boxes, but I still have nostalgia for the Funimation soundtrack and can't bring myself to buy any of the crap that's out there. Unless this is closer to Dbox quality then the old 00s singles are proba...

Re: UK Kai Seasons going out of print

Madman's Australian sets were the same Yamamoto/Kikuchi mix as the UK ones, weren't they? Those would still be an option for region B. From what I hear Manga UKs Blu-Rays and DVD seasons were based on Madman's Parts and Complete Collection respectively, the former uses Yamamoto up to Episode 39 and...

Re: Kirby Morrow, Third Canadian Voice of Goku, Passes Away

Morrow was the one Canadian Goku I was most familiar with. I loved his work growing up and still have many fond memories.

RIP, he will be missed dearly.

Re: Dragon Ball Rewatch, Week 47 - DBZ episode 53-57 (CURRENT WEEK)

It can't be emphasized enough how good the writing is in this arc. I really love the 3 man race Toriyama has going on between Freeza, Vegeta, & the earthlings. Seeing each team trying to get the upper hand and avoid the other never gets old, no matter how many times I see it. I also like how no one...

Re: Funimation's 30th anniversary collectible home video release

I think the ship has sailed on TOEI doing a true HD remaster since they didn't do one for the 30th anniversary. They likely just remastered the movies and specials because it's less work and less money for them to do. At best we will probably get SD-BDs like what they are putting out next year for O...

Re: UK Kai Seasons going out of print

That is a real shame, as they were only released in 2015. Maybe they don't want it competing with Z? I will say that while I always see DB/Z/GT/Super in HMV, I never see Kai. I know it didn't sell that well, but would have hoped it would stay in print for a few more years for those who don't have i...

UK Kai Seasons going out of print

Just enquired with Manga UK about the mysterious disappearing listings, specifically for Blu-Rays for Kai Seasons 2-4 on almost all online retailers (Zavvi, base.com, Amazon to name but a few). Turns out these sets are now out of print, so presumably the Season 1 sets that can still be bought are le...

Re: Dragon Ball Rewatch, Week 46 - DBZ episode 48-52 (CURRENT WEEK)

Now that you mention it, it did feel like set up for them all fighting Freeza. I never even thought of that before, but having them get brought back to life, and having the final battle be a Return of the King style showdown between Freeza and his men against Goku, his friends and the revived Namek...

Re: Why do so many people dislike GT Pan?

It's also weird for Pan to be treating her grandfather like a younger brother. Much like Goku not taking Cell and Freeza seriously in their fight I think TOEI were trying to recreate that wacky Toriyama humour in GT, but for a lot of fans (at least back then as GT is more respected now) it didn't fe...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

Gohan was my favourite character as a kid, as an adult it's Goku. He's simply the embodiment of all the whimsy and charm in Dragon Ball. I think he's a horrible father and husband, and I don't like how much of a selfish battle junkie he is I'd argue he's a worse husband than a father. I've been rewa...

Re: are the Digitally Remastered films on Blu-ray worth collecting?

They are quite good for the most part. Only a few minor issues like the muffled Japanese audio on movie 13 (if you have the single that has a better stereo mix). I recall them being on sale for under $10 recently, if you can get them for that price I'd say you'd be getting a great deal.

Re: MangaUK announce TFC for UK!

I finally decided to get the UK release of TFC, as all 3 parts are currently £15 on zavvi. I'd imported the US release a few months before Manga UK announced theirs, but I still wanted the UK release for consistency with my Kai 1.0 blu-rays , and I just like supporting the UK releases. I've had the...

I think that alone should be enough to prove these are the 30th discs repackaged without any edits.

Those of you who frequent the blu-ray.com forums and UK Anime News Discord may be familiar with professorwho , he is a Discotek freelancer that works in quality control and he confirmed a full transfer for all 291 episodes was done. As far as the overall process goes, this means scanning and colour ...

Re: Dragon Ball Z 4:3 Steelbooks

As the US already has the 2013 sets, there could be less chance of Funi doing a standard release, although never say never. I fully expect Funimation to do a standard release just to milk Dragon Ball Z yet again, especially if Super isn't back this time next year. It wouldn't be too dissimilar to t...

Exactly, they have the materials at their fingertips to make a good release happen which will appeal to everyone across the board but continuously decide to release crap versions and know most casual fans will buy them anyway regardless of how bad the quality therein actually is. It doesn't matter ...

Re: Why is it that other anime geet pristine home/anniversary releases, yet the Dragon Ball franchise keeps getting ruin

How is it widescreen "by definition?" Blu-Rays always have their picture in 16:9 so that they work smoothly with modern TVs. So for example, a 4:3 show will have the side bars as part of the video, while an anamorphic movie will have the bars on the top and bottom as part of the video too. Is this ...
