Re: Official "Show off your Dragonball Crap" Thread

I wouldn't sell them, not for the outrageous prices people sell boxes 2 and 4 for (several hundred at least) as its a massive disservice to the fandom. Anyone who pays that is being ripped off. I got boxes 5-7 for maybe $60-100 but resold them for about the same price when I realised I would never ...

Re: AB Video to release original Dragon Ball on Blu-Ray

I mean this Blu-Ray is a variant of the Dragon Box, just with AI upscaling, and no one expected it to look as good as it does or include the broadcast audio. Anyone who exprcted the latter prior to its release would have had the "copium" card thrown at them, but here we are. One thing Drag...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions

The Blue Bricks seem out of print though. Glad I bought them at $20 a pop Hmmm that's suspicious. I thought Crunchyroll wasn't going to care enough about original Dragon Ball to give it the reprint-with-our-own-branding treatment, but maybe now that's what they're planning, or perhaps they think an...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions

I was looking at the Crunchyroll store and good Kami some of these prices are insane https://store.crunchyroll.com/search?q=Dragon+ball+z&search-button=&lang=en_US $35 for the fucking Orange Bricks per season? A volume of Kai with only 20 some episodes is like $40? I understand Crunchyroll ...

Re: Did Any Japanese Voices Get Better?

Of course, in stark contrast to the JP cast, the majority of whom had already accrued a rather stacked resume by that point (lots of them were even in Toei contemporaries of similar stature). Yeah, Masako Nozawa was 49 when she started playing Goku and played a load of characters in shows from the ...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" Dub Turns 14; Still Unreleased

No problem dbzforeverUK . Crunchyroll can't do anything and isn't going to do anything. Toei can't make uninterested Canadian networks air a show that's about to be 3 series out of date. Best hope at this point is Toei dumps it off on Tubi or PlutoTV Poland just got Kai on TV for the first time ever...

Re: Would a complete DBZ English redub be necessary?

Ironically this was the end of Nicktoons treating anime with any sort of respect. GT flopped so badly after Kai had done SO WELL (Along with airing the Z movies) that they treated anime like FUCKING DIRT afterwards. And keep in mind Super was NOT A THING at that point. Neither was The Final Chapter...

Re: Would a complete DBZ English redub be necessary?

I mean, Dragon Ball had been around for a while when GT rolled around, so naturally there was going to be people feeling fatigued. We know in Japan ratings for GT were on par with the Boo arc, which has its fair share of detractors too. People had tuned out, and not having the creator behind a proje...

Re: Would a complete DBZ English redub be necessary?

The same thing might apply to FUNimation's dub of Dragon Ball GT, right? That dub sucked so hard (less or more than their 1999 Z dub) and it is primarily one of the reasons why Dragon Ball GT is hated (and at times unfairly) within the English-speaking fandom. Their 2001 dub of Dragon Ball is less ...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" Dub Turns 14; Still Unreleased

I’ve just been doing a bit of looking around and Crunchyroll can be messaged on instagram so it’s worth a shot right? The reason I mentioned Shenmue 3 earlier was because this dub of Kai has now entered that sort of limbo and thanks to everyone here discussing it and putting time into trying to est...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" Dub Turns 14; Still Unreleased

Can anyone confirm if Crunchyroll has released anything Dragonball related in Canada because if not it might be able to be distributed there if I’ve read everything else right? Canada gets all the same home releases as America, so yes. At this moment Crunchyroll has released Super Hero and repackag...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" Dub Turns 14; Still Unreleased

I do wonder if the voice actors could do anything to help. I was watching this video with Ankur Javeri, the Hindi voice actor for Goku. Some of you may know within the last two years India got a whole load of new Kai dubs as it premiered in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. Hindi may have...

I thought of Discotek as an option too, but Arian got in contact with Justin Sevakis some time ago and was told more or less what Andy Hanley of Anime Limited told me. No home video distributor can put out DVDs or Blu-Rays of Kai in any given region where Crunchyroll has the license . Crunchyroll no...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" Dub Turns 14; Still Unreleased

Yes, the Dragon Ball anime is ultimately TOEI's property but this Kai dub belongs to Ocean, they are the ones who produced it, its up to them to get it out (which sadly hasn't been the case yet). I don't see why Crunchyroll should be against getting this dub released, they created a separate English...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" Dub Turns 14; Still Unreleased

Doesn’t matter how it done but using contacts like Lisa Yamamoto to confirm what fans would need to do to get Toei’s attention or Andy Hanley to see if he could push for it on our behalf. Regarding Andy Hanley, for those of you that don't know he's the marketing guy at the UK's largest boutique ani...

Re: Selecta Visión Dragon Ball Z Blu-ray

TOEI also released One Piece on SD Blu-Ray. Although I believe it's cropped to 16:9, so not promising if we're ever going to hold out for them releasing Dragon Ball on the format. I'm still skeptical about them taking their time to do it right, maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised and they will come ...

Re: Rank your favorite voice casts

As far as acting goes I would go far as saying for the most part it was actually worse in the Cell saga. Saffron Henderson and Jillian Michaels are infinity more tolerable than Stephanie Nadolny's Son Started Chainsmoking at 3 years old Gohan. Chris Sabat's Piccolo still sounded like a moron and hi...

Re: Rank your favorite voice casts

. This is attributed to the horrible voice direction of the Westwood dub since they're trying to copy the scripts and dialogue of the FUNimation dub but with child-friendly edits to eliminate any references to death or hell from those scripts, much like the Ocean/Saban dub (although this practice i...

Re: Selecta Visión Dragon Ball Z Blu-ray

Probably should have specified but when I say the Japanese Dragon Box singles I do mean the individual releases. I'm not surprised they sold well, they started being released in 2007 when DVD was still massive and I'm sure a lot of Japanese fans were delighted to finally be able to collect the seri...
