Re: English Actors that were cast post...a certain timeframe.

Funimation's casting choices from Kai onwards have been infinitely better than their 1998-2005 castings. Obviously the problem with the latter was always the fact Funimation were not making casting decisions based on the character's essential traits but they were just looking for people with little ...

Re: Favourite screams from various dubs

Dragonball Evolution was bad but its far from the worst thing ever. Dirty Grandpa makes it look like a masterpiece  Got to agree the movie was a blessing in disguise for this franchise even just to have Toriyama return to writing Dragon Ball. I'm also glad for the dubs Tian got from Evolution .

Re: Favourite screams from various dubs

I feel James Masters was one of the best things to happen to the franchise, It's really hard not to like his performance in super. I wonder if he would have been cast if Evolution wasn't made? I know James Marsters is apparently a huge fan (and I believe there's a reference in Buffy?) but him needi...

Re: The CW/4Kids Broadcasts of Kai on Toonzai and Vortexx

Pretty weird they didn't give them the clean masters (without the logo) just as the rest of the world who got the Nicktoons version. Supposedly it wasn't an uncommon thing for Kix, same happened for Digimon which they aired with the Jetix logo from what 90sDBZ has said. I don't recall ever seeing t...

Re: The CW/4Kids Broadcasts of Kai on Toonzai and Vortexx

The comment was not for Nick Jr airing anime but that the anime they aired is PRETTY FUCKED UP. If you followed the link you would have seen one of the most messed up Fairytales being adapted faithfully and with very little censorship. Google "Bluebeard" Fair enough man, honestly I'm just...

Re: The CW/4Kids Broadcasts of Kai on Toonzai and Vortexx

Replacing questionable lines of dialogue with soundalike voices And if I recall correctly, it was Sean Schemmel doing them. Here's him as Vegeta at 2:07: https://youtu.be/rebTDWIsDP8?si=QfQde2o15VjJ6FJB The fact that they had to soften those dialogues more than they were on the edited Nicktoons dub...

Re: The CW/4Kids Broadcasts of Kai on Toonzai and Vortexx

Thanks, just trying to document as much as I can from these broadcasts as there doesn't seem to be anywhere people can find it all in one place. Having done another browse through old forums it appears Vortexx aired the final TV episode of Kai on November 2, 2013, which was 97 with 98 obviously on t...

Re: Favourite screams from various dubs

Also say what you will about Sean Schemmel but even in the original Z dub his screams were insane. This is from Kai. The one who made the video just put Bruce Faulconer's music over that scene. Damn should have double checked, still don't get why people feel the Faulconer Productions score was need...

Re: Little known facts about your broadcast

This makes no sense to me because Cartoon Network UK has been airing the Westwood dub of DBZ at the time and there is no way they would air something like this. From what I can tell, they just aired a VHS recording of the episode that aired on either the International Channel or Nippon Golden Netwo...

Re: Little known facts about your broadcast

Despite being a legal licensee, Telefuturo and La Tele used fan encodes for some episodes in Paraguay. Now that you mention it there was one case on Cartoon Network UK when the episode Free The Future first aired that they used a really poor copy of it that was clearly just a VHS recording they got...

Little known facts about your broadcast

Is there anything you know from watching Dragon Ball growing up that a lot of fans may not be aware of and isn't well documented or at all? Think of stuff that could easily be mistaken for being a mandela effect. I've mentioned this before and I've not seen it said in other places, aside from some Y...

Re: The "power" of the German dub

The Greek dub of OG Dragon Ball started airing on ANT1 in 1995. Shortly after, the episodes were playing on ANT1 Cyprus as well. I know that was my point, although I should have specified it being the first European dub to be based on the Japanese version other than the Junior TV dub, which premier...

Re: ME TOONS CONFIRMED! (SPEED RACER IN THE LINE UP)

I think it's fine if lighthearted media is not your cup of tea and to prefer more artsy type fare, as long as you acknowledge there are different types of entertainment and valid reasons for why each has its appeal. I can't help but think of Martin Scorcese's comments himself on the MCU movies, ackn...

Re: The "power" of the German dub

You're a kid from X country which didn't have the luck to have Dragon Ball localized or had the bad luck to have an awful localization, you get home from school and tune in Dragon Ball on RTL II, and even though you don't understand German, you enjoy it anyway. Yeah, and as we discussed in DMs when...

Re: ME TOONS CONFIRMED! (SPEED RACER IN THE LINE UP)

The only thing I sorta object to was the whole "1 bedroom" thing, its not millenials fault that the previous generations absolutely NUKED Millenials chance of getting good homes , but realized it was criticized millenials who DONT worry about that. That's a good point, I wonder if the rea...

Re: Did Fuji TV air the original Dragon Ball anime completely uncensored?

Just to put it out there- The Dragon Ball anime itself toned down some of the more graphic violence from the manga so it was censored to a degree. Conversely there are also anime scenes more brutal than the manga, such as the shot of Goku and Raditz after Piccolo launched the Makankōsappō. https://...

Re: Piccolo-san-daisuki! In different languages

I wonder why the Norwegian dub got an instrumental though? From what I understand the Scandinavian movie and special dubs are just cheap Big Green dub (which we all know how low budget that was itself) knockoffs in the respective languages, so it seems weird they would have been able to get differen...
