Re: Dragon Ball Recut [COMPLETE], Dragon Ball Kai Recut [WIP, Saiyan to Cell COMPLETE], Dragon Ball Z Recut [WIP]

Are the actual episodes shorter to remove filler dialogue as well or is this just to remove filler episodes? I wanna know. Thank you very much by the way. It removes every bit of filler content it possibly can. There wouldn't be much point to a fancut of a show if all it did was delete a few episod...

Re: Minority representation for minority characters in Voice acting

The problem as I see it isn’t so much about looking good to some online reactionaries who make clickbaity YouTube videos with stupid thumbnails. The problem is that these online reactionaries will try to use this stuff to convince otherwise normal people that the PC crowd are a bunch of loonies who...

Re: Minority representation for minority characters in Voice acting

Online reactionaries are going to say "so much for the tolerant left" no matter what any of us do, so ignore them. Their opinions are worthless. Dismantling the institutions that give them sway is far more fortuitous in the longrun than making yourself look good to authoritarians ever will be.

Re: "You're a Weeb"

I always thought the idea of a "weeaboo" was someone who romanticizes and infantilizes Japanese culture based on thinking anime is all there is about Japan, and values it above their own society as a result. Like those guys online who say things like "anime doesn't have politics!" and "Japan doesn't...

Re: Shintani's style doesn't do it for me

I mean, even the fanart based off the old style and the old style itself is still better than what we had for the prior twenty years. But importantly, there's a big difference still between the character designs and how they're used. You don't actually NEED to be a fan of Shintani's style to still l...

Re: Interesting or funny pictures thread

I gave the example of fanfiction because this has never been a topic when criticizing them. For example, many fans thought Goten and Trunks achieving SSJ so easily cheapened the form so they try to avoid it in their stories rather than do the opposite and have a character achieve more transformatio...

Re: Interesting or funny pictures thread

The point is that you can't really blame a new work for specifically the problems its predecessor started. For not fixing them? Sure. But most of the time it's coupled with pretending those problems didn't exist with the originals, when if you ask me, a lot of them were just as bad or even worse in ...

Re: Should fans write for official products ?

There is no definitive "yes" or "no" answer to this question. Ultimately the people who work on anything should be the people who do the best job. Sonic Mania wasn't good because its creators made ROMhacks and fangames beforehand, it was good because they were really talented game designers who knew...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions

I get annoyed with Trunks and Goten age discourse because it baffles me that it's somehow easier for the most ardent complainers to believe that Trunks and Goten are literally older teenagers while looking like children than that the series is just inconsistent with its dates, something they "calcul...

I'd suggest checking out the one dude's profile, but he's actually eased up on the omariposting for the last few months, it's been nice and I don't really want to get into another spat.

Just wait for the Z recut if that's what you want. Especially given the JP performances in Z are generally better than Kai anyway.

You need to remember, every problem that exists in Z only matters when something other than Z does it.

Re: Who is a Mary Sue in Drago Ball.

The birth of the term is literally rooted in sexism and punching down, though, so it's difficult's an inherently derogatory term. It's difficult though, because the writing tendency it describes is one worth discussing. A character who is liked by everyone and good at everything, no matter how litt...

Re: Other Fictional Characters that would fit in Dragon Ball

I thought about listing Lovecraftian Great Old Ones and Outer Gods, but that might be a bit too outlandish for Dragon Ball. I'm not sure how Dragon Ball would handle having a whole pantheon of cosmic entities. It already handles what it's got extremely poorly. Having eldritch monsters outside of ti...

Re: Other Fictional Characters that would fit in Dragon Ball

Part of the issue here is whether a lot of this is fair given that many fictional characters are literally based off of Dragon Ball. Like, take Jasper from Steven Universe. Proud warrior race type alien, inferiority complex toward fusions (another element of that show lifted from DB), really buff wi...

Re: Interesting or funny pictures thread

Well, the sexist connotation is only a very recent thing as far as I'm aware, and I'm not sure it really applies when you use it on a masculine character. The proper term for that scenario is "gary stu". Assuming both are used correctly, the idea of a poorly-designed overwritten hero character that ...

Re: Interesting or funny pictures thread

If this thread has convinced me of anything, it's that there's no good discussion among people who speak more with image macros than language. People who look at out-of-context screenshots duct-taped together and say "this P R O V E S my opinion is OBJECTIVELY CORRECT #libsowned!" in the middle of ...

Re: Dragon Ball Recut [COMPLETE], Dragon Ball Kai Recut [WIP, Saiyan to Cell COMPLETE], Dragon Ball Z Recut [WIP]

Milkman has stated he's not really interested in dedicating much effort to the DB dub (since it's kind of not great).

I suggest checking out KBABZ's the 1st chapters for something like that.
