Unpopular opinion, Toriyama left to his own devices sans editors was not a very good writer. Character designs in general remain timeless regardless of story.

I believe he’s an ideas and concepts guy, not necessarily make great literary connections and themes type.

Modern DB powerscaling dictates Roshi takes them all.

I really would have liked to be in the room when Toriyama proposed this idea.

To frame this more succinctly there is a faction of the fandom which truly believes:
Toriyama = Good content.
Non-Toriyama = bad content

I fail to see how this is a problem. All things being equal, deferring to the creator is the least worrisome standard anyone can have as far as fiction ...

Yup, pretty annoying alright. They're doing this exact thing right now, declaring all of GT worthless now that we took the "one good thing" about it out of it. Welp, Toriyama's dead, so moving forward, everybody will have no choice but to think critically about whether something's good or not ...
