Tenshinhan was confident that he could defeat Goku knowing he got stronger from three years back, so I don't see any reason to have Tenshinhan losing here.

I go with C. The writers clearly aren't trying to explain any of this mess (or anything at all in Super), so I don't see why I should bother trying.

The fact that no one ever questioned Goku's word and that Piccolo never had any qualms with SS Gotenks' power tells me that Gotenks wasn't weaker than SS2 Goku/Vegeta and Fat Boo before training in the RoSaT. Just my interpretation.

Somewhat off topic, but I find it a bit disrespectful to call Toriyama by his first name. We (presumably) don't know the man on a personal level, so we shouldn't be on a first name basis.

The GT Perfect Files confirm that Goku did not get any weaker when he became a child. He only has worse stamina.
