Re: Question about Movie 12 for all you fansub experts out there

Pretty good detective work! I just tried Googling "Anime Densetsu No Kaitakusha" myself and fittingly enough, it led me right back here! Specifically to a post by Jawdrahb from a 2012 thread: https://www.kanzenshuu.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19269&start=20#p525946 Jawdrahb included two screencaps fro...

Re: Question about Movie 12 for all you fansub experts out there

Haha, I greatly appreciate the attempt regardless, Mike! At least now I know that the quote actually says "not Goku" instead of "neither Goku," which was definitely something I didn't know before. My apologies about Meri's tape! But yes, if anybody else has that fansub or a great memory, I'd l...

Question about Movie 12 for all you fansub experts out there

As detailed on the site's Rumor Guide, one of the most famous fansubbed lines of Movie 12 is Gogeta's "I am neither Goku nor Vegeta… I am the instrument of your defeat!” So my question is: who made the particular fansub where that line appeared? I know Kanzenshuu says Anime Labs worked on the more f...

It's great seeing the supporting cast again, I definitely missed them. Looks like we're about to discover what they've learned since Yamcha's been away...

Re: DragonBall Z Abridged

Wrote to KaiserNeko expressing my gratitude, but I'll reiterate it here: I am so grateful for TeamFourStar and Dragon Ball Z Abridged. I got to know so many people because of our mutual love for the show, and it might not have ever happened if it weren't for DBZA and its 10+years of comedy brillianc...

I'd love that. They'd have a ton of stuff to work with, as far as comedy goes.

Re: DragonBall Z Abridged

I'm just waiting for the audio-improved remasters of season 1 so I can introduce new fans to DBZA without the empty periods of dead silence that came up a lot back then. Actually, that was one of the things I admired about the first season. When TFS started inserting music into the episodes, there ...

Re: General Fan Fiction Thread

Here's a fan fiction that I enjoyed a lot when I read it a few years back: Our Great Conscience, by KaviNasiga. It's set 25 years after Goku vanished in Dragon Ball GT, in a time where the people of a now-unified Earth worship Goku and Vegeta's descendants (Trunks, Pan, etc.) as gods, while their hu...

Re: Need help finding old AMVs

Wish I could help more, especially since I was big Dragon Ball AMV person myself a while back. But well, maybe others might be able to recognize the videos with more information. Do you remember the web sites you saw these videos on? Or the names/screen names of the people who made the videos? This ...

Re: The Anime's ToP or the Manga's ToP? Which one did you prefer?

Toyo's ToP taken alone without the anime as support is incredibly bland an boring and unnaturally fast. Introduces tons of characters and then proceeds to do nothing whatsoever with them Definitely agree. One of the great things about the anime version was that we got to learn quite a bit about the...

Re: The Anime's ToP or the Manga's ToP? Which one did you prefer?

Because it's quite likely that Toyotaro eliminated many characters so fast it's because they were already given focus in the anime, so he felt he could mostly skip them It's possible, but honestly, I suspect the real reason is that either Toyotaro or his editors didn't want to fall too behind the a...

Re: What do you think of the tone difference between Z and Super?

Well, the thing is that Super started out really as an action/comedy, which was likely due to the Battle of Gods film (and the Buu Saga before it) bringing back some of that early Dragon Ball humor. As the show progressed, however, it slowly slid back into the dramatic tone of the Z era, starting wi...

Re: The Anime's ToP or the Manga's ToP? Which one did you prefer?

I'd have to say the anime, honestly. It just had way more room to breathe, and we got to learn a lot about the fighters from the other universes. The manga ToP, on the other hand, felt like Toyotaro was in a hurry to get everybody knocked off, so he picked a small handful of the more powerful or sne...

Re: Webcomic - Dragonball Z Elsewhere

I remember being pleasantly surprised to see that in Dragon Ball Super: Broly, the Ginyu Force had preceded Frieza, and after reading this chapter, it makes even more sense that they worked for King Cold first

Re: Do you think Super would have benefited by holding off on Super Saiyan Blue?

As much as I enjoyed the SSB reveal in Resurrection of F (and even more so the reveal that Vegeta had also learned to do it), I do agree that it's a pity Super Saiyan God didn't really get much of a moment to shine outside of Battle of Gods. I definitely think Toriyama and co. could have played a bi...

Re: Uub's role after EOZ

I don't think any series that transitioned to a new generation has ever had as much success as their predecessors. Boruto isn't as successful as Naruto. In some stories, Bruce Wayne retires and passes the torch to an older Robin or new, younger Batman but there's new comics, films, video games, etc...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Also, it's cool to think that Kid Buu actually had some god ki. He would need to have a mix of mortal and god since his ki could be sensed. Right, and maybe that's why Vegeta underestimated Kid Buu before Kid blew up Earth-- he could only sense a PART of Kid Buu's power. I did always find it weird ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" CONTINUATION - (Non) Announcement & Discussion Thread

Very excited about the movie news. Geekdom mentioned in the video he's still convinced that Super is also returning as an anime series, so we'll have to wait and see if he's right. July's just a month away, so we won't have to wait long to find out...
