Re: Brice Armstrong (Captain Ginyu, Lord Slug) passed away

One of my favorite Funimation voice actors. Such a great voice for a narrator.

Re: Personal Thoughts on the Ocean Dub

If you want to capture the essence of a character, you HAVE to be a good performer. Yeah, he was, so now you know how little I think of Kelamis's performance. I'm not an actor and while I have some idea of what a director brings, I have a hard time believing that the director could've played such an...

Re: Personal Thoughts on the Ocean Dub

When I think of early Schemmel, I think of his "Oh no!" and "Now you will know the horror Frieza!!!". Sorry, but he was so awful and cringeworthy back then. You mean the "OHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" When Vegeta takes off before the Ginyu fight? That always gets a laugh out of me. It's when Vegeta gets ...

When I think of early Schemmel, I think of his "Oh no!" and "Now you will know the horror Frieza!!!". Sorry, but he was so awful and cringeworthy back then. On the topic itself, I have a soft spot for the Ocean dub of Z, particularly the dubs of the first three movies. It's just a shame that the Wes...

Some people find Klassen's Krillin to be too whiny and annoying.

Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread

Masashi Ebara, who you guys might know better as the voice of Might Guy from Naruto, is the new voice of Mr. Satan. He also played Van Hohenheim in Fullmetal Alchemist 2003, a role that Unsho Ishizuka played in Brotherhood.

Re: Personal Thoughts on the Ocean Dub

He never ever sounded like Nozawa at ALL aside from that Kaioken scream in Movie 2. You just can't replicate that kind of voice in English.

Re: Personal Thoughts on the Ocean Dub

I'm thoroughly enjoying watching this spliced version of the Ocean dub together with the Funimation version that's been overlayed on the Dragon Box. Overall, I love watching the Westwood dub -- flaws and all. Yeah, the music thing sucks and yeah, delivery is wonky, but I still get a kick out of it....

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

I guess my unpopular opinion is that I think Toriyama's modern artstyle is way better than his old style. I'm not a fan of the Artificial Humans>Boo-saga designs where everyone is super sharp and musclebound. His more cartoony art is just flat out more appealing to me. Also, I can't staaaaand Goku'...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

Even as a kid, I could tell Power Rangers was a bad show. Good writing was never associated with that show. What season(s) did you watch? Some seasons are worse than others, particularly MMPR not being that good, & it depends on the showrunners or the times they were made in or conditions they were...

Some seem to be pleased with Bosch as Broly, though. I swear that many of his fans see him as some Marlon Brando or Laurence Olivier of voice acting.

Re: Rumor: Disney Developing New Live-Action Dragon Ball Movie With Asian Cast

I so disagree with the idea of Spider-Man 2 having not aged well. It was terrible to begin with. I was always surprised at how low the bar must have been for it to be hailed as the greatest superhero film of all time when it came out. Saying it didn’t age well implies it was good for its time, so I...

Re: Rumor: Disney Developing New Live-Action Dragon Ball Movie With Asian Cast

I so disagree with the idea of Spider-Man 2 having not aged well. To me, the Raimi films have more heart than any other Spider-Man film, even more than the MCU films with Iron Boy Jr.. And Willem Dafoe is the perfect Norman Osborn/Green Goblin.

Re: Rumor: Disney Developing New Live-Action Dragon Ball Movie With Asian Cast

Batman v Superman was the equivalent of a 15-year old boy who thinks he’s edgy and serious. Some deleted scenes being put back in isn’t going to save the movie from its ugly cinematography, Superman’s asinine distrust of Batman (this guy is a destructive asshole just like me!), The Ayn Rand masturb...

Re: Rumor: Disney Developing New Live-Action Dragon Ball Movie With Asian Cast

I wouldn't trust Disney with Dragon Ball. The visuals of Dragon Ball wouldn't work well in live-action. And a live-action film would probably have a washed out color palette and bland cinematography like the MCU does.

Re: All in all, are you happy the revival happened?

I haven't seen Dark Fate, but I don't plan to. I'm in the camp that they should have let the franchise end with the second movie. But hey, when a movie that's really good that makes people interested in its concepts and themes, they want more movies. I'll say this right now, the Alien franchise endi...

Re: What specifically was wrong with Vic Mignogna’s take on Broly?

G.I. Joe comes to mind as one of those shows that began telling more mature stories than most 80's cartoons. For example, there's a two-parter where a Joe is supposedly a traitor and another two-parter where Cobra has taken over the world and the Joes there are dead. You can even see skeletons of th...
