Re: How do you define a good dub?
10. A character's age must determine their voice. If a character starts off as a kid, then have an adult woman do it, but if they grow into a man, then switch the actress out for a man. (unless said character still looks like a child). I Disagree, Nozawa has been voicing Goku both as a kid and adul...

Re: How do you define a good dub?
Not only brazilian portuguese and latin american spanish dubs, but the korean, cantonese and italian dubs too. Maybe the german too, but only maybe. Do the Mandarin Chinese dubs qualify under my list? What about other dubs made with the various languages of Asia? I know the German dub doesn't...can...

Re: How do you define a good dub?
For me it's this: 1. Almost every voice should sound unique unless there's a story reason. 2. It must be atleast 80% accurate to what was in the original script 3. I don't mind different music as long as it sounds good and still fits the scene in which it takes place. (Which is why I'm a huge Faulc...

Re: Does Dragon Ball Kai The Final Chapters have 2 Versions in Japanese?
Correct: the "original" Japanese broadcast is in fact an edited-down version of what they originally produced as the base for the international market. You may wish to read our two major articles about it ( one / two ) for more detail. Yes I knew about International Version having more Ep...

Does Dragon Ball Kai The Final Chapters have 2 Versions in Japanese?
One thing I noticed in Kai TFC is that it may have 2 different versions, specially the Gohan Transformation against Kibito and the Version which FUNimation used to dub over was this one as the last Kai Dub Episode on Adult Swim but there is another JPN Version of This Transformation of Kai TFC so do...

Re: Bruce Faulconer or Shunsuke Kikuchi ?
I've decided to re-watch the Original Dragon Ball Z Franchise, after watching it long time ago, when I was really young. I'm up to Ginyu saga and I realized something is different. After a research I found out there are two Audio Versions. The one I've been watching up until Ginyu saga was the Japa...

Re: Does DBZ's OST Feel Lackluster at Times?
I like Dragon Ball original Japanese score.. DBZ OST could have been better IMO. And I love Super's OST. I have a bit of a mixed opinion on it. Overall I like the music but I found DBZ's to be a bit less intense/emotional at times when such tracks were needed. I also do like Funimation but as you c...

Re: How Would You Handle the Music of Modern Dragon Ball?
I thought Yamamoto made a perfect score for Kai. It's a damn shame that he got fired. Hell, I despise Kikuchi's score, and it bothers me that they didn't bother to sync his score with the original track placements for the original DBZ. I feel gipped no matter what if I buy any of DBZ Kai now. Kikuc...

Re: What's that BGM in the Japanese version? Read the OP!
The best version of Gohan's theme is this one. And sadly, it was NEVER officially released. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gj5B6YueD0 Yes that theme is good but Personally these 2 are some of the best Themes for Kid Gohan like this one when gohan attacks Raditz and does a brave attempt to save De...

I've seen it split everywhere. And what are you specifically referring to by "everywhere"? Anywhere I have seen. Real life, Kanzenshuu, Reddit, Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook... No matter where I go, I see people split on the issue. Some people like Kikuchi, some people like Faulconer. Some pr...

Re: Sumitomo's work on the Universal Survival Arc
It's a problem with this fanbase, mostly those on kanzenshuu forum, they favor to the extreme either Kikuchi or Faulconer, if it's not those two there's almost no pleasing them,. Why it is a problem? Let people please themselves with what they want ( as long as they aren't breaking the existing law...

Re: Is the Japanese Version Underrated?
I think back in old days Ocean Dub had better and more Experienced Voice Actors than FUNimation had, if only they had better Script, no Censorships, Japanese Soundtracks and had the Japanese Audio to take idea then they could have done justice to DBZMasenkoHA wrote:The Ocean/Funi dub had good voices too though.

Re: Favourite Nozawa character portrayal?
Her Portrayal of Kid and Adult Goku in DB/Z/GT is Definitely my Favorite because she captured his Childlike innocence, Hick nature and battle savy nature Flawlessly and when it was required she made Goku sound both Goofy and Serious without making it sound over the top, though I just don't get the s...

Re: Is the Japanese Version Underrated?
Well the biggest reason I've seen people prefer the dub over the sub is Goku's woman's voice. I myself have issue watching Digimon in Japanese because how off putting it is for the Digimon to still sound like little kids in their evolved forms no matter how much I love the Japanese score. Wargreymo...

Re: Can fans of the Japanese Version considered to be blinded by nostalgia too?
I'd say the biggest difference between fans of the Japanese version and fans of the U.S. version is that fans of the Japanese version get blinded by the Taiyoken, while fans of the U.S. version get blinded by the Solar Flare. Real talk: I've always found "blinded by nostalgia" to be one o...

Re: Can fans of the Japanese Version considered to be blinded by nostalgia too?
I definitely think so, especially in musical aspect of Dragon Ball. I feel like the sub fans have an narrow minded interpretation of the way DB music is post to sound, and if anything strays from that interpretation, it will automatically be disapproved. I don't mean to be so blunt, that's just how...
