More panels isn't always bad. It's just if you're going to use it for a simple dialogue exchange is when it becomes unnecessary. I want to provide a good example from the Frieza saga, but I can't ...

These two examples demonstrate an exchange between characters. Toriyama uses 7 panels in his page, Toyotaro uses 11.
