Re: Faithful English covers of DBZ openings, endings, and insert songs
All of GT's dub was scored by Mark Menza. Menza did the music for Z movies 1, 6 (which is where the movie theme used for the remastered dub came from) ,7 , 8 (mixed with recycled Faulconer tracks and licensed rock and metal bands) , 11 and all of Dragon Ball GT. I see, I guess that's the only DB se...

Re: Faithful English covers of DBZ openings, endings, and insert songs
Honestly, the only reason we probably even got covers for the GT opening and ending songs is because all they had was Step into the Grand Tour which was too short and didn't go with the unaltered animation forcing them to put in a minimum amount of effort for GT's Green Brick release If I may digre...

Re: Faithful English covers of DBZ openings, endings, and insert songs
Yeah, see? It's SO weird. Ngl, it's part of why I just can't bring myself to care for the Orange Brick redubs from 2005-2009. The fact that they simply used the 'Z' movie theme as its intro, just... no. It's frustrating because it appears Funimation was slightly inconvenience by Toei and came up wi...

Wow thank you for the run down it’s definitely helpful for those out of the loop or new to the discussion in general, but I agree with everything you’ve said and it’s great to hear others are still just as passionate about ocean Kai, I think a monthly tweet/ hashtag on socials aimed at toei and Cru...

Re: Faithful English covers of DBZ openings, endings, and insert songs
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't CHA-LA HEAD CHA-LA and WE GOTTA POWER the only DB songs FUNimation HASN'T dubbed? If not, that's REALLY ironic to me, given how 'Z' is more-or-less FUNi's bread-and-butter in terms of DB stuff. As far as opening songs go yes. They also never dubbed Zenkai Power o...

Re: Would a complete DBZ English redub be necessary?
While GT is by no means perfect, it's also the victim of a lot of retroactive reception outside of Japan, where it genuinely flopped. It averaged a viewership rating of 14 percent. It didn't flop in Japan. Hell, the highest rated episode of GT pulled a viewership of 19.7 percent https://www.kanzens...

Re: Would a complete DBZ English redub be necessary?
And again, I'm not sure whether American fans are like this in real life, but the impression I get from the Western fandom about GT, especially regarding the English dub, seems to be that they think it's the worst piece of shit ever created. And that makes me wonder if they have ever seen a bad ani...

Re: Would a complete DBZ English redub be necessary?
You will never hear a person who grew up with the English Dub of GT say the same thing. Go on a YouTube comments page with Step Into The Grand Tour or the Menza score. You'd be surprised how many people do seem to like that crap. It's got nothing on the love Rock The Dragon or the Team Faulconer sc...

Re: Would a complete DBZ English redub be necessary?
The same thing might apply to FUNimation's dub of Dragon Ball GT, right? That dub sucked so hard (less or more than their 1999 Z dub) and it is primarily one of the reasons why Dragon Ball GT is hated (and at times unfairly) within the English-speaking fandom. Fans keep saying this but GT wasn't ve...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
Marketing is still a thing in Japan. I know the US has a habit of just dumping shit and never thinking twice of it, but that's a result of executives being dumb as hell lol. And even that's a relatively recent phenomenon. Companies like Netflix just decided word of mouth can do its thing and then t...

Re: Rank your favorite voice casts
Yeah the inhouse cast's performances were quite rough for the majority of the Z dub. Everyone points to the Boo arc as when they got good, I'd still say they were so-so at best by that point. I think the Boo saga was around when the Funimation cast mostly got their shit together, yeah. They weren't...

Re: Rank your favorite voice casts
In any case it's a well known fact that the Westwood dub was a chaotic production, and I don't think its fair to judge the cast based on it, as I believe they did the best job possible given the circumstances, Funimation's original Z dub isn't any better. As far as acting goes I would go far as say...

Re: Dragon Ball and Centrism disguised as "A Desire for works to stop being political"
Comics and other mediums for telling stories should absolutely take our political leaders and make fun of them and how pathetic they are, actually. This is how art has been made since...the beginning of time. Also mocking political figures is one of the most milquetoast forms of satire. Imagine clu...

Re: Selecta Visión Dragon Ball Z Blu-ray
It's really baffling that Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball GT, hasn't got a Blu-ray release in Japan. Movies has been available on Blu-ray, despite some editing on certain movies, but not the TV series. Pretty much almost every major anime has gotten Blu-ray (HD remastered or SD-upscale)...

Re: The CW's ratings have officially reached rock bottom.
Physical Media has its uses that streaming doesn't provide (namely you own it). There really isn't anything cable provides that you don't get from streaming. I wouldn't really compare the two. As someone that owns hundreds of DVDs and Blu-Rays, and has easily spent four figures on Dragon Ball relea...

Well damn, it's almost like context matters. He was happily going on his next adventure. Nobody on earth was grieving for the loss and pretty much accepted it.
Media literacy is dead, I swear to god.

Re: Is original Dragon Ball really that unpopular?
I've given up on shows after 1 episode because of how disinterested I was in what was going on. These days I'm more of a movie guy anyways. But my general rule is to at least try for 3 episodes. I do get that some shows do take a while to get going. Telling someone they have to get through 200 episo...
