I think it was just lack of training.
I used to be able to run (not jog, but RUN) 7-9 miles daily, and that was just a warm up to my 3-5 hour workout.

Looks like a coloring mistake to me

I skipped BoG and RoF arc in the manga and anime so I can't say if it's accurate for those versions, but in the RoF movie when Freeza's soldier pulled up earths map, it circled the while globe and I only saw Europe, Asia, and Africa

I personally don't think so. It gives goku and vegeta a goal to strive for. And I think they'll make it there without fusion too, in time of course.

Topics like this are where headcannons come in handy. Personally I think if Akira Toryama doesn't clarify something, it's up to the fan to make sense of it in his/her head.

Makes sense. I was just trying to make sense of how Vegeta in his rage state (against beerus) was able to surpass Goku's ssj3 form, when the multiplier for ssj3 is much greater.
Obviously vegeta trained in base to to get there (but with a rage boost)
But my confusion comes from Goku and Gohan ...

We always seem to see Goku and Vegeta training in base.
Does training in Super Saiyan form increase the multiplier? If so, why not just train for a super high multiplier?
