Re: I still don't get why FUNI never redubbed DBZ from start to finish

As others have mentioned, money. Additionally, even if they wanted to do a redub, considering Schemmel didn't want to be part of a partial redub, I doubt he would've participated in a full on redub of Season 3 onward. And a Dragon Ball Z dub without the voice actor for Goku is kind of a non-starter...

Re: Manga UK Releasing DBZ Blu-Rays and Steelbooks

Well this pretty much confirms it imo, the 30A master will be the standard going forward. I mean...I guess it's a step forward?

I wonder how long it'll take for them to put it up on FUNiNow.

That looks...really nice actually. If FUNi released something like that in NA I might consider double dipping on Super.

Re: Dragon Ball Z 4:3 Steelbooks

Kind of interesting that the design for the front on those is a bit different from the first 3. Maybe those weren't final and they'll be updated to look like these new ones?

Re: Dragon Ball Z 4:3 Steelbooks

Aside from that, standards change over time. Just because we were ok with square pictures back when we had SD TVs and some people are still ok with that, doesn't mean most people are ok with watching a show that has huge black bars on both sides of the image, effectively not using a 4th (or more) o...

Re: Dragon Ball Z 4:3 Steelbooks

I've been on an Ultimate Uncut kick now (don't know why as I don't even have nostalgia for them lol) but I did this comparison because I thought the colors were brighter, but I guess I was wrong? (these were captured using the prtsc..still can't get my discs to work with Virtual dub (I cant seem to...

Re: Has Super's reputation softened or hardened since it ended?

I think the show has been off the air long enough that it has become victim to the internet's favorite activity at the moment, "Why that thing you like/that thing that's popular in the mainstream is actually really bad." So yes, I do think the show's reputation has hardened, and in some respects in ...

Re: Dragon Ball Z 4:3 Steelbooks

Limited?? I didn't see anywhere saying that as in an "OMG buy these now, it's a super special ultra limited deluxe edition release and you better get em before they're gone" fashion. If these sets were limited runs wouldn't they state as such as with the 30th anniversary box set. It actually says o...

Re: Dragon Ball Z 4:3 Steelbooks

They're limited edition?!? Oh my god that's hilarious.

What're the odds that FUNi puts out these new 4:3 masters every few years as a limited thing to try to gaslight people into thinking "oh shit this might be the last time I can get it in 4:3 I better buy it!!"

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Meh, I gotta be honest my opinion on this remaster has softened a bit recently, and regardless, FUNimation doing a mainstream, non-limited edition, mass market release of the show in 4:3 is a win in my opinion.

Re: Bandai Namco Esports to premier "exclusive trailer" this Sunday on Twitch

I mean it's...probably something either FighterZ related or a new game. I can't see why they'd announce a movie or TV show at a Bandai Namco Esports event.

I'd love to be wrong but this fandom really needs to stop looking for announcements in the wrong places.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

I'm not going to sit here and pretend like the Super dub doesn't have any issues, but they are blown wildly out of proportion by the fandom, and I get the distinct impression some people were just itching for an excuse to hate the FUNi dub again after they did such an excellent job on Kai that they ...

Since you're doing the Boo arc, may I humbly suggest that you use this for the SSJ3 transformation:

Re: I really hate Beerus arc

The first two arcs are an absolute joke, and the insistence from certain people that you have to watch them instead of the movies because of some minor nitpicky details that vaguely effect later episodes is perplexing to me.

Given that to my understanding the international version was produced before the version that aired in Japan, I doubt that the Japanese airing affected the aspect ratio at all.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

As time has gone on, I have come to prefer the look of the Dragon Boxes to that of the Level Sets for the sparse amount of episodes we have in Level Quality. I have absolutely nothing against film grain, but the Levels have too much. FUNi's multi-generational masters, for obvious reasons, have sever...
