Re: DB & Z or Super: Which Should get a Remake ?
None to be honest.
Z already had a sort of remake with Kai... And it has it's pros and cons. I don't think any future remake would make a difference.
OG DB... While it is old, not that well known among "average" fans and has filler, I feel the filler and pacing issues are in no way as bad as ...

Re: Dragon Ball Super weakness and strengths
For me Super is kind of what people say about GT... Great ideas, not always good execution. I certainly think it has weaknessess but has also it's pros'.
+:

Re: In order to continue DB's story in an authentic manner, Jump should create a Toriyama AI bot
No. Just. No.
For one thing DB was always a result of creativity and unexpected ideas. In contrast, do you know how AI works?
In a great simplicity its an enormous statistical machinę. Nothing about it would be creative, would be authentic, would be "art".

Re: How would Toriyama have rewritten each individual arc?
I am pretty sure in reality he would never do such a thing and would never be interested in it.
Especially as the manga aged very gracefully and is held in very high regard.
BUT if we imagine he would write it from MODERN Toryiama persoective, I am sure there would be some changes eg.

Re: Dragon Ball should be understood as multiple valid continuities rather than a single "canon"
The reason why 131 works as an ending is because the Anime treats Mastered UI Goku as the pinnacle of power and finesse. Even Beerus is stunned and on the verge of tearing up when Goku masters UI. Sure, he cannot access it at will, but he seems pretty confident that he'll be able to deal with ...

Re: Back when it was about “straight hands” and “Pure Martial Arts”
The faster pacing makes the comedic first arc more enjoyable than it’s animation
I agree. I don't think it makes sense to introduce Pilaf so early in the story. I think it creates a false expectation that he'll be a major villain, when that's not the case. Ultimately, it takes away from the ...

Re: Back when it was about “straight hands” and “Pure Martial Arts”
Personally I think this isn't just the case of ki blasts as in reality there seldom are fights where the beams are more importqnt than hand to hand combat.
For me it seems more like the older fights in the manga seemed somehow more realistic and thus make people think about martiał arts.

Re: Which was the better sequel: GT, Super, or Daima ?
I think the reason why Toppo and Jiren don't buy me is the delivery - the delivery of characters and also the dialogue.
After all we can say Frieza is a two dimensional 'evil for evil' villain without much backstory and dimensions.
But the reason he works is due to his character, aura, method of ...

Re: Which was the better sequel: GT, Super, or Daima ?
I really don't think Dyspo, Toppo or Jiren are great, nor even good characters.
If a whole concept of a character is "he loves justice, then he doesn't love justice" or a backstory is "an evildoer killed his family" then you can really do better as a writer

Re: Vegeta calling Goku the number 1
The scene always had less of a "Kakarotto, you are now the strongest in the whole Universe" and more of a "wow, Kakarotto, you really are better than me in every way and I accept I may not reach up to you" impact for me.

I am not familiar with all of them, mind you, so I'll list the ones I know...
1.
Kikuchi - for me the man is a genius and while off course nostalgia plays a part in it, it is my default Dragon Ball music. To this day, I have goosebumps when hearing some tunes...

Re: Has the hype for Daima died down?
Well, Daima was a short 20 episodes side story which was self contained and ended a while ago.
I don't think there is need to talk about it much, there's no new content, no big theories to discuss...

Re: Should Dragon Ball's canon be reset?
Like others, I think there is absolutely no need to remake Dragon Ball. Even with a better writing team and arguably better animators... No, its not worth it. Dragon Ball is a product of its time and having it nowadays just wouldnt work. Imagine all the Roshi gags.

Re: Eric Legrand, French voice of Vegeta, has passed away at the age of 72
As in Poland we had a translation based on the French version many years ago, he was the Vegeta, which many of us knew whole childhood.
He gave a COMPLETELY different performance than that of Japanese or English dub but legendary nonetheless.

Re: Why scaling matters
Odern Dragon Ball and the original series both have some nearly impossible and illogical leaps of strength. What does help however is if we see these leaps justified.
I feel the viewer is more likely to "forgive" the absurd of the power level if the training to achieve it was cool, believable and ...

Re: How would you have made GT ?
If we are bound to stick to the original story beats from the anime, let's do some mental gymnastics. I would do this the following way.
Black star saga:
As many other had said, let's not have the black star balls destroy the earth after one year. This is really just a superfluous plot point which ...

Re: Has Super and Daima replaced Z and GT in the modern era?
Probably all the law drama though I can't imagine Super going very far even without it. I still stand that it was cut short and actually had much more material to adapt if Toei didn't pull the plug. Reminds me a bit of GT ending.
GT was actually intended to be short from the start (at least ...

Re: Has Super and Daima replaced Z and GT in the modern era?
Super IS also popular but not on the same tier in my opinion.
I wonder if Super would've gotten there had it not ended so abruptly as it did. Super's popularity was at an all time high in 2018 thanks to the climax of the tournament and Broly's movie, but for whatever reason they decided not to ...

Re: Has Super and Daima replaced Z and GT in the modern era?
I doubt it.
I mean with GT it may vary. I don't think GT is in the same tier of popularity as Super and Z but then again... There's a lots of nostalgia with it.
But for Z vs Super? Not even close in my opinion. Z is still seen as the unquestioned and most popular mountain of Dragon Ball anything ...
