Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

VLC can also run Blu-ray via MakeMKV: - Install MakeMKV - Copy libmmbd.dll from the MakeMKV installation directory to the VLC installation directory twice - Rename to libaacs.dll and libbdplus.dll - Run MakeMKV once to activate (you don't have to turn on MakeMKV until the beta key expires) - Run VLC...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

I'm morbidly curious if the 30th anniversary set has shots that are as bad as the worst shots from Funi's dnr'd and fake grained Cowboy Bebop BD: https://slow.pics/comparison/9b33a955-6 ... 93ab564017

Still not on Netflix Netherlands, but Netflix submitted a Dutch classification for Resurrection 'F' very recently.
Battle of Gods classification was added this week.

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Not entirely related to the discussion at hand, but I just found out that the Teen Titans Season 1 Blu-Ray that was released a few years ago was cropped to widescreen . WTF?! Not cropped. It was animated in widescreen, but cropped to 4:3 for broadcast. Transformers Animated befell the same fate.

Re: Green Tint and the Japanese Blu-ray of Super Broly

Wow, the Funi release is such a big flop. The difference is immense. Not only is the green tint annoying, the subtitles are also a lot harder to read due to the small borders around the letters. That wouldn't be so bad for scenes with dark backgrounds but considering a lot of the movie takes place ...

Re: Green Tint and the Japanese Blu-ray of Super Broly

An insider chimed in on the matter: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=291140&page=21 I’ve seen the source files from which the DCP’s were created. Toei’s colorists graded it for cinema (DCIP3). Funimation and Periscoop used the cinema grade for their Bluray releases. I’ve heard from Perisco...

Re: Green Tint and the Japanese Blu-ray of Super Broly

Sometimes the banding is baked into the master during the rendering stage. The only way to fix it is to re-render the whole movie with better dithering, or to carefully deband the master shot-by-shot. Looking at the Funi/Manga/Toei screenshots, I think much of the banding is baked into the master. A...

Re: Green Tint and the Japanese Blu-ray of Super Broly

The Japanese Blu-ray has no green tint. Screencaps and stats The Dutch Blu-ray has the green tint, wrong gamma level and a dreadful amount of banding and compression artifacts. As a note, I tried viewing those screenshots, and I got a pop-up, a big ad splash image, AND my anti-virus blocked ...

Re: Backing Up Dragon Ball DVDs and Blu-rays 2.0

The "difference" in color with the MakeMKV rip in MPC-HC is probably there because MakeMKV doesn't store the color primaries, transfer characteristics and matrix coefficients in the header. You could add those via the MKVToolNix header editor. With a DVD, you need to fill in the number 6 in all thr...

Re: Green Tint and the Japanese Blu-ray of Super Broly

Apparently the Dutch Blu-ray from Periscoop film will have the English and Japanese audio options with English subtitles so that may be worth importing for fans outside the UK if it doesn't have the green tint. That's kind of strange but makes sense since they had the Ocean Dub and Big Green Dub. H...

Re: The Broli movie will use dub names in its subtitles, at Toei's request. Could this become the new "standard"?

I wonder if Manga UK is doing their own disc authoring. They've done that for the MHA movie. I'm picking up the Dutch DBS:B BD with JP/EN audio next month, but even if it doesn't end up having the green tint, I'm sure they'll find another way to mess it up. The Dutch Your Name BD had a lowish bitrat...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Just wanted to say, I truly believe this is more so the doing of Toei Animation than FUNimation. FUNi had no issues releasing older properties like Yu Yu Hakusho and Cowboy Bebop on Blu-ray in great quality . Then there's Toei, responsible for blocking One Piece episodes on Blu-ray because it's not...
