Re: How does the Goku/Vegeta rivalry compare to the Naruto/Sasuke rivalry
The SasuNaru yaoi fanfiction tends to be written by people who actually think it would be a good ship. The GoGeta stuff on the otherhand is usually people trolling. Which isn't to say there aren't GoGeta shippers out there, just that they're all from the 90s and are still spelling "Vegeta" "Bejiita"...

Hey now, maybe it's like Star Trek where officers are reffered to as sir regardless of gender or lack thereof. Sir wasn't originally a gender thing. It was a title for anyone who was a knight. Oh ok. It looks like you're right. I always thought sir came from sire and while it does the "father of" c...

King = Male; Queen = Female. Hey now, maybe it's like Star Trek where officers are reffered to as sir regardless of gender or lack thereof. The parasite that gets transfered from host to host across multiple generations? Sir. The shapeshifting liquid thing? Sir. The Vulcan with the way too tight ca...

Also, let's not equate primitive tribes with warmongers. For example, there was the Taino tribe with whom Columbus made 'contact', who were by all accounts friendly and open. As were many other tribes who were forcefully submitted by warlike peoples. Its a fact that "primitive tribes" are far more ...

Re: Favorite "non-climax" fight
I really like Yamcha vs Shen/Kami. Ki following techniques is very much a rare technique and no matter the jokes, Yamcha was still the first to show such an ability. Oh hell yeah. One of the things I miss about pre-Saiyan Invasion Dragon Ball, is that everyone had their niche. Sure Goku was the bes...

Besides Yamcha's disastrous life and unfulfilled dreams? Not much.

Re: Favorite "non-climax" fight
Krillin vs Goku at the 22nd Budokai. Great pacing and the way the manga weaves between it and Roshi's conversation with Tenshinhan is perfect. The outcome of the fight is never in question but the way Krillin throws himself at a clearly superior opponent made me a fan for life. Doesn't matter how ma...

I don't even like Bra as a character, but then I'm not supposed to, she's villainous; but guys tend to have issues with overpowered female villains. I wonder if this thread were in 1998, we'd be having the exact same "THAT IS A GARBAGE ASSPULL" when Cell kept on magically pulling powers out of nowh...

Re: Who could Frieza's buyers be?
You could say the planet buyers were eventually conquered by Freeza, but then it really wouldn't make sense that Raditz would've told Goku that they were planet brokers, it would be a totally dead idea by then. ... I think this is just one of those cases of "Dragon Ball 'lore' has never made sense,...

Re: Gotenks is by far the most annoying canon character of the entire franchise
No, I get it. The Buu Arc works really well as a self parody. I'm not even talking about that. Even before I started to view the Buu arc that way, the whole thing just worked for me in a way that it clearly doesn't for a lot of people. And the reasons people give for why it's bad just never mattere...

Re: Gotenks is by far the most annoying canon character of the entire franchise
If the joke had been funny, I probably wouldn't have minded Gotenks at all. It was funny for me. But then, I view the Buu arc differently than most people do. No, I get it. The Buu Arc works really well as a self parody. Goku-Vegeta ends up being anticlimatic (at least in the manga), the spirit bom...

Re: Gotenks is by far the most annoying canon character of the entire franchise
I also think some people take him a little too seriously as a character. Acting like he's some kind of stain on the series is a little hyperbolic for someone you're clearly not supposed to take all that seriously. There were multiple moments in the saga where Goten and Trunks said they will take th...

And before anyone comes in with a panel from the manga, Toriyama never did it to this degree. https://pm1.narvii.com/6689/63cc94438a80623d82c546b7b346322cab0e3ddb_hq.jpg It's the exact same attack and outcome. Re: Why Didn't Beerus Destroy Moro Ten Million Years Ago?
experted_luke hit the nail on the head. The plot needed a villain and that there's a super powered god whose job is to destroy things needed to be brushed aside. Unpopular Opinion but this was always going to be a problem with making Beerus a kid friendly God of Destruction. As entertaining as he is...

Re: Would the concept of an Evil Goku be better if it was actually Goku?
I think the time to pull the trigger on Evil Goku was during the ToP. All the pieces were there with Goku's battle junkie finally having the potential to lead to tangible consequences and him lying to his closest friends about what was happening. But even then the series doubled down on him being in...

Re: Gotenks is by far the most annoying canon character of the entire franchise
For me Ribrianne was just a huge pace killer for the ToP. One minute we're watching some awesome battles, the next it gets interrupted by the annoying antics of her and her friends. But that's the ToP in a nutshell. It never actually found its stride in terms of rhythm or pacing. You'd have a fight...
