Re: Dragon Ball Z 4:3 Steelbooks
I understand criticisms against Funimation when they clearly demonstrated their ability to do gorgeous remasters of the show with the Level Sets. However, I have to agree that people are being hyperbolic with their complaints about the latest remaster. I don't know how anyone could watch the Orange ...

Re: Dragon Ball Z 4:3 Steelbooks
I’m double dipping. Have the 30th anniversary and the packaging stinks so I’m getting the steelbooks too. The orange bricks and season sets were garbage and I never supported. These are watchable. I hated the 16x9 cropping. HATED. I support OAR. I’m all for widescreen if it is native. The set is wa...

Re: Dragon Ball Z 4:3 Steelbooks
I will also say, these steelbooks look really nice in person and the discs use a cool metallic ink. Now, it wouldn't make me feel less safe to not always use them as it would my 30th lol https://i.postimg.cc/nVq9YxCL/123605839-673541313304030-822489470284576109-n.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/KvFk0WMD/1...

Re: Dragon Ball Z 4:3 Steelbooks
so Are these sets still good or no? i pre-ordered my copies I've been watching through the first season. While there have been better remasters in the past, these look perfectly acceptable. Some artificial grain was applied to the picture from when footage was first shown, and I think that masks so...

Re: 4:3 Steelbooks - Inconsistent Subtitles?
Pretty sure this is just standard for Funi, right? The Dragon Boxes did the same, didn't they? Been a while since I watched them, but I recall noticing the same thing on another Funi release at the very least. Romaji one episode, English the next. I've never noticed it on the old singles or the Ora...

Re: Dragon Ball Z 4:3 Steelbooks
I mean, it does stink that it's not an improvement but I am more than beyond happy that this is out to the general public and I hope at some point there is a regular style release that replaces the season sets. Plus now I have a way to replace my discs of at some point they get messed up. This will...

Re: If Toei ever announces they'll do a Blu-ray Dragon box
Now that the 30th Anniversary Collector's Edition remaster is available in Canada through the season steelbooks, I've decided they're good enough. They look way more presentable than the Orange Bricks or 2014 Blu-rays. With how long I've waited for a "cheap" way of owning the series in 4:3, I just w...

4:3 Steelbooks - Inconsistent Subtitles?
My first season of the Dragon Ball Z Blu-ray steelbooks (same remaster found on the 30th Anniversary Collector's Edition set) arrived a few days ago. While watching them in Japanese, I noticed that the subtitles for the intro and outro flip from English to Japanese from episode to episode. Is this j...

Re: Dragon Ball Z 4:3 Steelbooks
I have the first season. I can confirm that they are just a repackaging with new labels.

Re: Let's Remaster An Original Film Master Screenshot
I feel like this isn’t said enough, but the tools a fan would use to “remaster” or otherwise touch up a single frame from film as a single image are not the tools that you could would or should use professionally when remastering 24 frames per second (obviously “fewer frames” due to the nature of a...

Re: Let's Remaster An Original Film Master Screenshot
I can see why it'd be a difficult task to remaster a series on the level of the level sets (hah). Being that you'd need to do what you did for every single frame, and all while scaling it to 1080p or more. But if a single man can make a single frame look amazing, a company can make 291 episodes of ...

Let's Remaster An Original Film Master Screenshot
Recently, I made a post about my attempts to improve screenshots from the infamous Orange Bricks. Thanks to Funimation's website, we have access to some screenshots directly from the original film master. I'd like to show you my remaster of one of these screenshots, and I'd like to see yours as well...

Re: My Attempt to Improve the Orange Bricks
And here's one last one before I go to bed. It's another Vegeta. This one is simply amazing to me considering how the original seemed impossible to save. I think you'll really like this one. Funimation's remaster (yes, seriously): https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Ej3drWdWoAI2Pzz?format=png&name=900x900 M...

Re: My Attempt to Improve the Orange Bricks
Because people seemed to like this, I made another one. This one is of Nappa and Vegeta. The "dim" issue is once again present as I couldn't seem to improve it this time without significant downgrades. Still, I hope you'll like this one as well. Re: My Attempt to Improve the Orange Bricks
That doesn't even look like an Orange Brick screenshot. It loos more like the Season BD to me. It's a way too blue for those episodes, and not only that, but it's half the resolution and heavily compressed, so what's even the point? Here's an actual Orange Brick screenshot from one of the overly br...

Re: My Attempt to Improve the Orange Bricks
That actually looks pretty decent, makes me think of a cropped D-Box with the colors. The fact you were able to make that from the trainwreck Orange Bricks is applaudable   I appreciate the kind words! Yeah, this process has made me shake my head at Funimation with even more disappointme...
