Re: SAY-IN - SPECIAL BEAM CAN-IN - SUN GOKU - DESTRUCTO DISK | Why does Dragon Ball STILL suffer with these shortcomings

I wouldn't use "altered human", since that means they started out as normal humans: a cyborg". And most of them are 100% robotic. Yes, that is exactly how they are saying "Gokū" in Japanese. Luckily, if the GO isn't emphasized, it ends up pretty much Japanese-sounding even from an English speaker.....

Re: SSJ God was supposed to be “a being that surpasses everything”

I'll always be grateful for his involvement in BOG, as I believe it to be just as good as his original work in the manga. It was everything I wanted from a post Buu arc story, and it completely washed away the bad taste left behind by GT. However, that was followed by Minus and RF, both of which ar...

Re: I don’t see how SSJ Blue can have ANYTHING to do with SSJ God..

Yeah yeah, I know, the name is “Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan” But ignoring names and Toyotaro’s own statements for a moment. The two forms have literally NOTHING in common, except for the fact that both of them use God Ki and have “Super Saiyan God” in their name. I only heard the phrase "Super Sa...

Re: SSJ God was supposed to be “a being that surpasses everything”

Even ignoring those examples, the trope of "He is strong but actually looks really weak" is a played out trope that isn't fun anymore. It was never fun in the first place, Toriyama has a thing about doing the opposite of what fans demand. Want to series the be more round? He makes it more angular, ...

SSGSS is skinny, for some reason they have kept moving away from that though, even with Ultra Instinct.

Skinny loser? Ooh, those are the best, especially when you get some into some nice cute crop tops that say "Daddy's Girl" and shows off their nice, toned tummy...and some fishnets and super tight shorts that don't fit and shows their bul--uh, it really shows off their appeal. Super Saiyan God is th...

Re: SSJ God was supposed to be “a being that surpasses everything”

It should be overpowered ONLY by Gods of Destruction and Angels, and not by stupid mortals such as Frieza and Jiren. In that case might as well end the series and call it a day. Or just rewrite it ala MY style. And have Goku and Vegeta mastering SSJ God and later Ultra Instinct and have them only f...

Please the title of the thread to say Chris Ayres real name, he's a human being, not a cartoon character.

EDIT: also, fuck the elected officials of the United States.

Re: SAY-IN - SPECIAL BEAM CAN-IN - SUN GOKU - DESTRUCTO DISK | Why does Dragon Ball STILL suffer with these shortcomings

Jinzoningen literally means "Artificial humanoids", and can refer to androids, cyborgs, robots, but also creatures like Cell or Baby, which we wouldn't refer to as androids or cyborgs. This is how translation usually works; there's a term or two that doesn't cleanly go into English 100% of the time...

Re: Minority representation for minority characters in Voice acting

https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/26/entertainment/simpsons-voices-trnd/index.html I know it's happening to quite a few shows. I feel this is an interesting topic in regards to anime and the lack of Asian voice actors for mostly Asian characters. Do you think this will change the anime, if not Dragon Bal...

Re: SSJ God was supposed to be “a being that surpasses everything.”

Being called the Strongest in the Universe means absolutely nothing in this franchise and never has. In the Saiyan arc, Vegeta claimed to be the strongest guy, the root of all evil, etc. Then it was retconned that he was always a small fry barely stronger than some of Frieza's weaker mooks like Cui...

Re: Nozawa: her best possible goodbye as Goku

I'm not predicting death. I'm predicting retirement. Goku was a physically demanding role for the spanish and english actors at their physical peaks. I can't imagine how difficult this role is for an elderly woman. I think at some point, she'll want to retire. The next movie might be a good place t...

Re: SAY-IN - SPECIAL BEAM CAN-IN - SUN GOKU - DESTRUCTO DISK | Why does Dragon Ball STILL suffer with these shortcomings

But wouldn't having it read as "The Dragon God" be the same as literally translating Son Goku's name as that long Aware-of-Vacuity thing? I never understood why it's left as Shenron, isn't that like saying "Bejita", "Torankstu", etc? Shen Long is fine, isn't it? It's left as "Shenron" probably beca...

Re: SAY-IN - SPECIAL BEAM CAN-IN - SUN GOKU - DESTRUCTO DISK | Why does Dragon Ball STILL suffer with these shortcomings

It comes from a Japanese root, so you can spell it however you like. I guess as you said, Namekk or Namek works, maybe just Namek and have it pronounced properly. See above. Except it kinda comes from a Chinese root, but it's the Japanese reading. There's actually a strong argument for rendering hi...

Re: SAY-IN - SPECIAL BEAM CAN-IN - SUN GOKU - DESTRUCTO DISK | Why does Dragon Ball STILL suffer with these shortcomings

Btw, is it "Nah(ar)-mek" or "Naw-mek"? I tried doing research but it was very confusing, still confused on how to put emphasis on the "mek". I checked the manga, Viz version, and Trunks did clarify that they were Cyborgs, after calling them Androids, but I don't think it was corrected any further. ...

Re: Super Saiyan Rosé - The Anime's interpretation (Compared to the Manga's)

Black is a God occupying Goku's body, so, if he went Super Saiyan he'd naturally use God ki resulting in an altered SS. This is in line with SSGSS being just SS with a different ki source/power running through it. As far as I know there isn't a source stating this. As far as the limited guides go, ...

Re: SAY-IN - SPECIAL BEAM CAN-IN - SUN GOKU - DESTRUCTO DISK | Why does Dragon Ball STILL suffer with these shortcomings

Because "Makkankosappo" sounds absolutely ridiculous in English. Because Special Beam Cannon is so much better, it doesn't sound alien, it sounds like something you'd see from a western 1980's cartoon show trying to imitate anime. Oh wait. Implying it isn't also ridiculous in Japanese. Exactly! Not...

Re: Shintani's style doesn't do it for me

Shintani's designs replicate an era of Dragon Ball between the early Z era, and mid Z era, not to mention they are incredibly close to the manga, which honestly is what the show should be like. It also helps that Toriyama picked Shintani. I know tons of people compare Shintani to Takahashi, but hone...
