Re: AB Video to release OG Dragon Ball on Blu-Ray
I have received my Blu-Ray from FNAC. Got it very quickly despite being imported from France to the US and I am very pleased with the release. Here is a tweet I made showcasing screenshots from discs across the set: https://twitter.com/VennyRestore/status/1598101027861196800?s=20&t=FkmK_sI-HB-mj...

Re: AB Video to release OG Dragon Ball on Blu-Ray
I checked the raw .m2ts myself and yes there is broadcast audio. This is the best release of the original Dragon Ball we've ever had. All the problems with the Dragon Box; frozen and fuzzy grain, chromatic aberration, ghosting in the dark areas, and horrid inconsistent colors are now fixed. This is ...

Re: Fan group scanning/remastering of multi-generational film prints previously owned by FUNimation
@DHM211 Check the Kineko discord server, it was explained that the raw scan is 12-bit 4:4:4 and nearly 800GB just for 17 minutes. Data like that stores more dynamic range that is invisible to us on our 8-bit displays. You can shift colour and light information from the 12-bit ranges into 8-bit visi...

Re: Fan group scanning/remastering of multi-generational film prints previously owned by FUNimation
It says something that it's a handful of people -- I'm literally counting on one hand here -- that are the main personalities in this thread (and it seems to be one of the only things that you're here to post about). There's hardly anyone else from this community's vast number of participants that ...

Re: Fan group scanning/remastering of multi-generational film prints previously owned by FUNimation
I hope the owner of this specific (DBZ movie 9) film print allows it to be released publicly. And I hope that a lot more collectors that are out there, that have this stuff come out and ask Kineko Video to scan there film. It's possible in the future that we could have a small collection of good 4K...

Re: Fan group scanning/remastering of multi-generational film prints previously owned by FUNimation
What is it about color that brings out the toxic weirdos…? Folks, I can’t stress enough how little (read: no) interest we have in your external squabbles and drama. We shouldn’t have to read “you’re a clown” and “nuh uh you are” over what by all other outside appearances should just be “hey that’s ...

As soon as I saw that tweet I was blown away, simply incredible. And I knew people on this forum would make a post about it because it's Big news. I hope the owner of this specific (DBZ movie 9) film print allows it to be released publicly. And I hope that a lot more collectors that are out there, ...

Re: Fan group scanning/remastering of multi-generational film prints previously owned by FUNimation
That's cool. Though, don't get too excited; these guys did transfers of some episodes of OG DB well over a year ago which have yet to see the light of day outside of the odd clip or screenshot. Apparently the known troll Enigmo is their chief colour corrector (or was), and that guy is sort of known...

Re: Rebuilding the Dragon Ball Z Character Color Design Sheets for Color Correction
Pretty sure the sky and skin tones aren't meant to be pink like this lol. Also idk why you would try and use exact color charts to correct a Blu-Ray or DVD source. Even in the Movie 1 screenshot you posted you brought out compression artifacts when trying to push out dynamic range in the blacks. I ...

Re: Rebuilding the Dragon Ball Z Character Color Design Sheets for Color Correction
With the uncover of the actual color chart (now accurately digitized) that was used to paint Dragon Ball, theoretically it's now possible to color correct the show to its original cel color. However, in order to reach that mature stage, more things needs to be done first. Having the color chart is ...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" Dub Turns 11; Still Unreleased
I've never seen coping this hard in my entire life https://i.imgur.com/U1X6Qp0.png Why is SX10, or anyone else really, so obsessed with finding this ocean studios kai? Like i get not liking FUNimation's/crunchyroll's kai, but then instead of pining for another edited cartoony bs thing i watch japan...

Re: Color Correcting the Dragon Box - 3 Part Spectacular
Imagine using literal color charts to correct a shitty DVD telecine made in the late 90s lol. The best colors you will ever be able to get out of those DVDs would be following broadcast colors or foreign home releases which use color timed prints. Trying to use color charts for color correcting DVD ...

Re: Walmart Exclusive Dragon Ball Z Bluray sets
What a genuinely pathetic distributor FUNimation is. They make Blu-Ray sets that are affordable and look nice, but put a release from 2013 on there when they have the 4:3 "remasters" they just made 3 years ago sitting on overpriced ugly steelbooks. I've never seen an anime or cartoon that ...

Re: Dragon Ball 4K Remaster (16mm)
This is what that femboy group posted on twitter right? Ether way 16mm full frame tends to top out at 3kish doesnt it? Why would anyone think 1080p/2k would be where to stop film scanning with that knowledge? Ether way I hope we get to see these. They look so much better than any other db/z/gt scre...

Re: Curse of the blood rubbie rare dub
I wonder who got it in the end. Given the fact it went for $1500, I'm guessing a speculator bought it as an investment/collectors' item, knowing how much it went for in previous auctions. Here are some raw screenshots from his Laser Disc transfer of Dragon Ball Z Movie 1. As you can see it looks fa...

Re: Curse of the blood rubbie rare dub
It's YouTube compression YouTube's video compression does not change the aspect ratio and frame rate. It's just that the uploader didn't know what they were doing. https://i.slow.pics/DUbXs3HI.png https://i.slow.pics/nkVtBDaL.png Here are some raw screenshots from his Laser Disc transfer of Dragon ...

Re: Curse of the blood rubbie rare dub
I am the top bidder right now, I have a professional digitization set up, and plan to preserve the video and the tapes hi-fi audio. I also have plans to do a restoration using the hd footage and this audio if I win the tape. I dont want to say too much and break the rules but yes these would be 're...
