What people ignore is that this also comes down to nostalgia. Of course people who grew up with DBZ will think that DBZ is the "real Dragon Ball" while Super doesn't feel like it.

For a kid born in 2011 who grew up with Super, I'm sure they'll say that Super feels more like Dragon Ball than DBZ ...

The criticism that Super is the "Goku show" is baseless and applies tenfold to GT.

Is it really retooling if it became a "martial arts story" in the second arc? Though to answer the OP, probably not. I like the Pilaf arc but not enough to be invested for as long as Dragon Ball has run.

Slice of life, the soundtrack, the antagonists and new characters in general, and the overall storyline were done very, very well in Super. I loved the additions to the lore such as the Gods of Destruction, the Angels, UI, Time Rings, and the multiverse. I also think that the Future Trunks and ToP ...

Personally, the only two points that bothered me were forgetting the Senzu and the Mafuba seal. The others were harmless gags imo and the writing for his character improved significantly in the Tournament of Power. I think it's weird to single out Chi-Chi as well.

The decision to redub the movie is a good one. If they're going to have a new actor, I appreciate the consistency.

It's because ratings go through the roof when there is a new transformation and toys with new transformations sell well. They're just giving the people what they want.


They can do the same without all that though, they sold DBZ merch for years when no new series were being produced.

I really don’t think there’s any need to get the backstory of Beerus and Champa. What precedent is there for that in DB?

It’s not necessary and I would certainly not call the writers lazy for not including the backstories for supporting cast members.
