Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
I noticed something weird in the Saiyan arc. In episode 10, the narrator says there are 11 months left until the saiyans arrive. In this episode, Bulma and Krillin find Yamcha and then go looking for Tenshinhan. In episode 12, the narrator says there are only 9 months left until the arrival. It's on...

Re: AB Video to release OG Dragon Ball on Blu-Ray
Now the thing is, I think I saw that there are Blu-rays of DBZ in And yes, TOEI's remasters of the movies and specials was released in France. It has only been released in France outside Japan. Fixed info in your quote. The movies and specials were also released in Germany. Just like this new DB re...

Re: Selecta Visión Dragon Ball Z Blu-ray
Selecta Visión have access to the DigiBeta masters which are still compressed in a way but far less than DVDs. Well, that's probably the reason for the differences. I wasn't sure at first because I have also tried Topaz before, but never achieved the same result as SV. I wonder if SV used Topaz fro...

Re: Selecta Visión Dragon Ball Z Blu-ray
it's obviously Topaz Video Enhance AI that they used for this release. More specifically, it's the AI model named "Proteus - Fine Tune" on that program. I upscaled the DBox footage with this AI model and I got a result that is almost 100% identical to one of the screencaps from this relea...

Re: Possible details on Selecta Vision's Dragon Ball (1986-1989) bluray release
I guess the question is: if it's an upscale of the Dragon Boxes, could I do that myself using my Dragon Boxes? Sorry; I'm a total dummy with these things. I figure you likely could, so really it wouldn't be all that huge of a difference i assume. No you can't get the same result. (I have already tr...

Re: Anyone else find the RRA arc hard to rewatch?
I meant the second fight. I would have liked it to be a close fight that Goku just barely wins.
In the first fight Tao Pai Pai was this unbeatable enemy, while in the second fight (3 days later) he just looked pathetic.

Re: Anyone else find the RRA arc hard to rewatch?
I'm surprised so many of you love this arc.
Muscle Tower - The most boring thing I have ever watched.
General Blue - I guess it was all right, but nothing special.
Tao Pai Pai - Pretty good actually, but I didn't like Goku beating him so easily.
So yeah, I also find it hard to rewatch.

I would wish for every single episode of DB/Z to be animated as good as Movie 12 & 13.

Re: Change one thing about a Dragon Ball series and make it better
DB - No Pilaf in the Piccolo Arc. (He was so out of place in such a serious arc. It would have been much more interesting story-wise if Crane Hermit had "resurrected" Piccolo to take revenge on Roshi and Goku) DBZ - Gohan should have killed Boo. DBGT - Goku & Vegeta are still dead. Goh...

Re: Dragon Ball Kai Blur Removal
Kai without blur would look like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJFkxngnIro
I think it looks really good (except the redrawn scenes, they still look weird)

Re: Does anyone else feel that much of the DB fandom enforces low standards?
Dragon Ball was so ridiculous that it's astounding when you actually explain it to yourself how you ever took it seriously. I am now 24 and still take DBZ seriously. I also don't care that the characters are named after vegetables. What difference does it make? Why does everyone use this fact as an...

Re: Question about Funimation's remastering process
As for how it’s actually done, it doesn’t even require DNR. I still have an image from years ago where I feel it pretty much nails “the Funi look” and didn’t require DNR: https://i.imgur.com/BYgiv7v.jpg Your process, though, (barring step 3) just outlines how to achieve the Selecta look. DNR+sharpe...

Re: Question about Funimation's remastering process
There's a spanish BluRay release of DB you can check to see the result (it's kinda worse though) You mean the Selecta Vision remaster? I don't think it looks like the Funimation remaster at all. Step 2: Run a sharpening filter on a high intensity setting. The reason why the shading is really sharp-...

Question about Funimation's remastering process
Does anyone know how Funimation's remastering process works? Which filters would I have to use to get a similar result? I am especially interested in how the "watercolor" look was achieved. https://i.imgur.com/2xDFEN1.jpg https://i.imgur.com/fkJ3EVv.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/qW40ri6.jpg I k...

Re: Is THIS a good reason to "skip" DB? (German, watching with partner, dub concerns)
Hey Dragon Sponge  Very interesting to read your opinion on this topic. I like many of the Voices there a lot some even more than their Z Counterparts like the ones for Krillin and Tenshinhan for example. I know the one for Ten (Vittorio Alferi) isen´t a perfect voice actor, but personally of ...

Re: Is THIS a good reason to "skip" db?
You sure you don't want to show her the original show for her first experience? I didn't cut out THAT much, just the really really bad fillers, like all those unnecessary flashbacks during the final fight against Freeza, the 2 Bulma namek episodes (I edited them into a single episode), shortened Mr...
