Re: Comparison shots from every single DBZ release
Also, KUDOS for even considering replacing the Kikuchi soundtrack with the properly placed Kikuchi soundtrack. I tried watching a few episodes, in their entirety, back to back for both the original uncut DBZ (remastered Funi/Faulconer) and DBZ Kai (Funi/Replaced Kikuchi) and I found myself really en...

Re: Comparison shots from every single DBZ release
If I want to use other soundtracks (Kikuchi, Faulconer, etc) for DBZ Kai, does it matter if I get the set as 'Parts' (parts 1-8, etc) vs getting the set as 'seasons'? (Seasons 1-4, then Final Chapters)?

Re: Comparison shots from every single DBZ release
I think Kai will be a good fit. If for no other reason than I've never seen it, so it will be more fresh. Sadly not really. TFC was done to meet a certain episode quota, so it only really cuts out about two-fifths of the original version (compared to half for Kai). Moreover it keeps some rather biza...

Re: Comparison shots from every single DBZ release
Once again the Black Bricks do just fine with the cropping. It actually shows more of the frame on the left than do the DBoxes. And the ground in the background between Vegeta and Bulma actually looks pretty sharp and defined here. At least, it really pops out kind of nice and sharp, even compared t...

Re: Comparison shots from every single DBZ release
No I do not own the Black Bricks. Don't think I can say specifically how I got the episode, but I'm sure you can connect the dots. I'd rather use 350 dollars as toilet paper than use it to buy that set. I mean, if I had that literal choice, I'd still take the Black Bricks. But I do get your p...

Re: Comparison shots from every single DBZ release
Really, even on the Blu Ray? Maybe its worth saving money to just go for the DVDs then? (There are some crazy good deals for Kai, but only for the DVDs). I'm interested in picking up Kai, just to get a fresh take on the show. How tolerable is the misplaced Kikuchi music? Is it worth trying to track ...

Re: Comparison shots from every single DBZ release
Does anyone know if the 2.0 English broadcast on the Black Bricks is identical to the 2.0 English broadcast for the Orange Bricks/Season Blu Rays? So in addition to having the Funi dub/Nate Johnson and Faulconer scores, they also have the same sound effects? And same thing with the other 2 options? ...

Re: Comparison shots from every single DBZ release
Awesome, thanks for including the Funi Single. The singles are the biggest competition against the Black Bricks for me, wanting 4:3 with Faulconer score. The Black Bricks are more cropped here than the DBoxes and Kai (mostly on the bottom), however, they are less cropped than the funi single, so tha...

Re: Comparison shots from every single DBZ release
OH! And I almost forgot. Isn't the picture quality on the Black Bricks actually worse than the season set Blu Rays, on account of the added artificial grain? (Unless you subjectively prefer that aesthetic)?
The grain probably isn't a big deal as long as it isn't excessive.

Re: Comparison shots from every single DBZ release
Ah, this is a great set of comparisons. So basically, I'm paying (a lot) for just an aspect ratio upgrade, which I'm still considering since the cropping bothers me so much. On that note, the first 4 images show a high amount of cropping on the Black Bricks compared to the Dragon Box. Can anyone con...

Re: Comparison shots from every single DBZ release
Is that "Remastered" frame on the left from the Black Bricks, or from the OB/Blu Rays? Based on the shape, I'm guess (and hoping) its the latter, because that is really bad. I figured that the Black Bricks wouldn't be as good as the Dragon Boxes - but when it comes to cropping specifically...

Re: [DONE] Dragon Ball Z Kai: Bruce Faulconer/American OST Edition
I'm a total n00b and haven't ripped anything in my life, but for Dragon Ball Z, I will learn! But I do have a question. Will any version of the Kai Blu Ray work? Or will I need to get, specifically, parts 1-11. Or seasons 1-7. I think I understand that either way, it has got to be the Blu Ray. I'm t...

Re: Comparison shots from every single DBZ release
Thank you everyone for posting these very helpful comparison pictures. I currently own just the season sets on Blu Ray and am looking to "upgrade", as despite considering myself a very casual fan who isn't too picky, I actually kind of hate them. The cropping is the thing that bothers me t...
