Re: Voice actors that you want to be replaced
If memory serves in his Geekdom interview he said Blue Gender and Yu Yu Hakusho were the first dubs where the directors actually had the Japanese version on hand and they didn't really become familiar with Japanese Dragon Ball until the video games.
That always seemed…odd to me. Ian and ...

Re: Voice actors that you want to be replaced
Yeah honestly in season 3 his Vegeta was probably one of the worst performances. Not only does he struggle to handle the tone but his delivery and enunciation is SO fucking weird LOL. Not gonna lie I find it hilarious, when as a kid I just didn't care or could tell it was bad.
Listening to ...

Re: Voice actors that you want to be replaced
Looks like Nadolny won't be coming back voicing Kid Goku ever again... https://x.com/AnimeAjay/status/2041890236720922792
Doesn't mean much. She has had previous issues with arrests going back to the very early 2000s and she was still voicing Goku and Gohan until 2009. IIRC she has has been ...

Re: Masako Nozawa's $3000 USD Autographs
Pay 3000 USD for her signature now, or pay 15000 USD once she has passed away.
Neither is justified, and I sincerely doubt Nozawa herself would approve of her autograph being sold for such prices.
I agree with you (as usual Amigo). Sadly, as others have pointed out, the autograph ...

Re: Does anyone else wish that it was an OG Dragon Ball remake?
A remake of the original DB & Z would have to be done from the ground up, while the "remake" Super is getting is more of a glorified remaster, as they're going back to what they already produced years ago and touching it up. Not only would a remake of the two classic series take longer to produce ...

Re: The TV Anime Series Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will be broadcast on Fuji TV in the fall of 2026
Toriyama was the one who wanted the two Z films retold in the first place. So, presumably, some of the changes in those retellings came from Toriyama. And, of course, we know that they kinda botched those retellings. When they're talking about this being closer to Toriyama's original vision or ...

Oh they do care: about money. If they release a perfect product, how will they milk the fans for years down the road? It's like... Over these past few decades companies have realized withholding compete, perfect products to maximize profits. Like... Everyone's anti consumer. Whether it's ...

Re: The TV Anime Series Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will be broadcast on Fuji TV in the fall of 2026
I'm not sure what exactly he has issues with from a story perspective.
Cutting down the Bingo scene from the anime adaptation may have angered him. Because they had time for all kinds of filler and extending mundane stuff, but the memorable joke was for some reason cut out? If they don't put it ...

What I'm confused on is the "Toriyama was dissatisfied with the original treatment" thing being said. Because back in 2013 Toriyama said this:
"How was the experience of having the scenario you supervised become animation?"
"When coming up with things myself and drawing things myself, nothing will ...

The "collector's edition" Blu-ray for Daima pisses me off. It's trying to mirror the JP release by using the same special box/art, and comes with some art cards and stickers, but doesn't include the official art book. I'd think if they could only include one thing it would be that. I feel that ...

Re: Torishima's Harsh Take on Akio Iyoku and DB Store
Torishima and Iyoku should sit down over a cup of tea/coffee and sort their differences like mature men. There's no need for this petty drama and "back in my day" rambling when we have both to thank for a lot of things we love about Dragon Ball old and new.
"Secret society" is a slippery slope ...

Re: Torishima's Harsh Take on Akio Iyoku and DB Store
The primary difference post-Toriyama is that there's no defference to a creative lead anymore. Even though, Toriyama was never someone with a ton of creative ambition, so it didn't really feel like there was a big difference. Toriyama had a decidedly limited view of how a story and characters ...

Anti-fascists are anti-AI and fascists are pro-AI, so that should tell you everything you need to know, I would offer.
Sadly, I have seen some people on the left use AI art to make anti-fascist and anti-capitalist stuff. People are too lazy to hire people to make art. I have done art for ...

Re: Has the hype for Daima died down?
At this point the only thing that could drun up hype here in the states would be a Blu-ray release. Because they've already put out the Kakarot and Sparking Zero DLC. I guess the return of Fighterz is cool, but it's a derivative of a form thar already exists in the game so I don't know if that'd ...

Re: In order to continue DB's story in an authentic manner, Jump should create a Toriyama AI bot
Even if the bot was only fed Toriyama's work it still wouldn't be able to create what he did because Toriyama had many different interests and hobbies that the bot wouldn't know about.

People really say that? That's insane lol also funny how delusional they can be

Re: Should Dragon Ball's canon be reset?
I don't know about that, but I think that future adaptations should be able to take liberties with the property in order to make it work better as a TV show or movie. Manga and anime aren't the same so if the anime gets a full reboot someday I wouldn't mind things being changed if it makes the show ...

Re: Is there any reason to buy DVDs/Blu-rays anymore when the episodes are streamed online?
You get the video fully uncompressed when watching it on disc so it'll be a higher bit rate than the stream video which will be more heavily compressed. However this is irrelevant when nearly every home release of this franchise is incomplete or horribly made. So I guess the answer to your question ...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
I'm getting really annoyed by the amount of people online commenting how "Toriyama gave TFS his blessing" and how "Toriyama loved DBZA". Toriyama couldn't speak English, and his colleagues seemed to imply that he didn't use the Internet much. How could he possibly have known it existed?
This ...
