Re: Weird Old Dub Stuff
This isn't "weird", but I was watching the Buu arc Funimation dub and I really like Rick Robertson's Dabura and Duncan Brannon's Babidi. I think they are one of the few voices in the dub that aren't obnoxiously annoying (along with Dameon Clarke's Cell which I think is very good). Not only that but ...

Re: The uniqueness of Dragon Ball's art style in manga history
Fist of the North Star and Dragon Ball are completely different in-terms of artstyle, even when Toriyama's style changed into the Z portion of the manga.

Re: Weird Old Dub Stuff
I'm not against small added lines that are in tandem with the characterization of the character in question. The main issue for me has always been the more egregious examples where you have full conversations going on that COMPLETELY ruin the atmosphere of the original scene, or lines that are ...

Re: Weird Old Dub Stuff
Wouldn't class hell as a swear word. A term to be avoided back in the day solely to avoid arbitrarily pissing off Christian parents, rather than it being offensive in of itself.

Re: Weird Old Dub Stuff
I think the most obvious and annoying cases of the constant talking when there is supposed to be zero dialogue is when you have two characters having a stare down with the camera panning to each of their faces, but the only time either of them say something is when the camera is panned on the ...

Re: Voice actors that you want to be replaced
Looks like Nadolny won't be coming back voicing Kid Goku ever again... https://x.com/AnimeAjay/status/2041890236720922792
Doesn't mean much. She has had previous issues with arrests going back to the very early 2000s and she was still voicing Goku and Gohan until 2009. IIRC she has has been ...

Re: Chris Sabat finally sheds light on DB specials not dubbed
Wow. I cant believe he died! Did Kanzenshuu discuss that? That was before my time. As much as Funimation was a nepo baby company and how terribly they dubbed DB until recently, his decision to give it to Gen Fukunaga literally reshaped the industry.
Yeah, he is a pretty significant figure in ...

Re: Kanzenshuu Wiki Has Launched!
I also like the simple UI and general design to match regular Wikipedia compared to the obnoxious stylized design of the Dragon Ball wikia. Makes it look very professional and easy to navigate.

Re: Chris Sabat finally sheds light on DB specials not dubbed
Its an interesting question to think about, but what would have happened to the franchise in the USA if Fukanaga didn't create Funimation? Obviously some other company would scoop up the license eventually (and of course Harmony Gold tried with the og Dragon Ball initially), but when? How would they ...

Goddamn, I remember you talking about this as far back as like 2009 or 2010 maybe? Perhaps earlier.
Very cool this is finally online.

All true.
Another I'm fond of is Kelamis' famous Kaioken scream from Movie 2.

The Nozawa parallels are obvious and probably the closest we ever had an English Goku sounding like Nozawa's Goku. Kelamis was in general an underrated Goku, in my opinion. His ...

Almost everything below comes from a similar topic I created about 2 years ago.

What is your favorite scream in the franchise?
Dragon Ball is well known for its screaming in the anime, but which ones stand out to you the most (from any version)?
There's so many to choose from on the JP side, but I think I'll give it to Wakamoto as Perfect Cell, especially the very first one in this video.

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
Project DBZ is just a moniker for Kenji Yamamoto's video game music projects. Another name he sometimes used was Y.S. Project, and MONOLITH which was his musical group composed of himself, Hideki Matsutake, Chiho Kiyooka, and others.
Gooootcha, that makes sense. Hell, the full title of the ...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
Wasn't that the working title for DBZ Kakarot?
Naaaah, dude. That's not at all what I was referring to. Like I said in my previous post, I've only seen it in stuff ranging from 1994 to 1998... so we're talking circa 25 YEARS before Kakarot
Again, I've seen it written, in English ...
