bit off topic, but I go the Star Wars route. To me, everything;'s canon. Anime filler? Happened. DBZ Movie 7? Happened, somehow. DB Movie 4? There's no reason Goku's ship has to travel at a constant speed. On Star Trek, for instance, ships slow down considerably when in star systems, because the gravity wells mess with warp feilds. Perhaps something similiar explains why Goku was going so slow near that star.
