Sometimes it's difficult to tell whether characters are actually shaking in fear, or if they just appear to be because the ground itself is literally shaking. There have been a few cases of the latter occurring when the character pulling the "whoah" face is actually stronger, such as when Goku ...

I think someone as powerful as Gohan would have to get millions of times weaker before there was any noticeable difference in his physique. He can't really be compared to any real life human in that regard.

Possibly, but I wonder if any Dragon Clan Namekian that goes bad would be considered a Demon Clan Namekian. We only seel two evil Namekians, if you count the movies, and I'm thinking that Slug was a Warrior Clan member.
Speaking of which, one of Slug's henchman, Metamucha, appeared to be a demon ...

I think it's quite possible that the media's coverage of the event did more to convince the public of Mr Satan's heroism than the man himself ever could.

Obviously Toriyama hadn't yet thought up the concept of Namekians during the Piccolo Daimao arc, so the "out of universe" explanation is quite obvious. However, I suppose you could claim that there was some sort of implied retcon when Piccolo's alien heritage was revealed, and that the demon spawn ...
