Re: Do you feel old yet?
26 years . I was born in 1980, than my family went to Japan. You became a fan at age four? Can four-year-olds comprehend anything? Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiet bro, when I was four I was the biggest TMNT fan on the motherfuckin planet. Of course you can comprehend shit when you're four. I've been a fa...

Re: Linda Young not to voice Freeza in the Dragon ball Kai dub?
This is the most important casting decision FUNImation has ever made in the entirety of it's lifespan as a business.
I will now have no problem with anyone who wants to watch Kai dubbed and will happily do so myself without objection.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai Volume 1 Discussion
Ugh, am I the only person who ordered from Right stuf who hasn't gotten a shipping notice yet? I want to cancel my order and just buy it from Best Buy at this point... I've been ordering off of them for years and have always gotten my orders on the release date and often times several days beforehand.

Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
I always figured that the reason Satan was spelled "Satan" was because he was a "American" character(based off american pro wrestlers/Jessie Ventura) and therefore his name spelled as such. The only reason he speaks Japanese is that, well, every character in the show spoke Japane...

Re: Do you consider Vegeta a fighting genius?
the machine-gun ki blast(which never works). No strategy whatsoever, but a perfect symbolic attack for Vegeta, just keep throwing ki at it until it's dead. I looked over this and I must disagree. As Stalin said, "quantity has a quality all its own". Unleashing a hail of attacks to hammer ...

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai Volume 1 Discussion
That's not his issue, his issue is that they are in english and not in japanese. Speaking as someone who has worked in film before, I can tell you I've never really considered the credit design as part of the vision of the film, and if any of my work was translated overseas, I certainly wouldn't wan...

Sigh, so I live within 100 miles or so of where this set ships from, and my shipping status has been "reserved for your order" for the last two weeks now and I can't think of a reason why all these other sets shipped out and mine hasn't.

Re: The most famous controversy - Goku's Japanese voice
I never thought of Goku as being a badass, even in the english dub. Isn't that Piccolo or Vegeta's job? The only time Goku can really be called a badass is that first time he went Super Saiyan.

Re: Do you consider Vegeta a fighting genius?
What about Piccolo vs 17? That was a brutal fight with less empathis on energy attacks. But the actual combat didn't even resemble any form of martial art, I'm remembering that hilarious part of that fight where the two of them continuously punch each other in the chest so hard that it looks like t...

Re: Do you consider Vegeta a fighting genius?
And there's the fact that Vegeta's right about the whole deal. Strategy and plans don't mean dick overall, the only exception being the Raditz fight (showboating tournament fights don't count). Strategy mattered through the Saiyan arc, particularly with the fights against Vegeta and Nappa. and for ...

Re: Do you consider Vegeta a fighting genius?
Honestly I don't think this topic would be up for debate at any time if it wasn't for Piccolo stating outright that he believed Vegeta to be a fighting genius just because he bluffed Android #20 into running away. If anything, there have been plenty of times where Vegeta foolishly runs into battle, ...

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai Volume 1 Discussion
There really isn't much more free space on a Blu-Ray than on a dvd since the video and audio takes up a lot more space. So all these posts wondering why there are not alternate angles doesn't really make any sense. They are not on there because FUNi didn't want to do them, didn't want to throw down ...

Re: Do you consider Vegeta a fighting genius?
I never really bought Vegeta as being a fighting genius. The only fights he ever wins are because he is overwhelmingly stronger than the person he's fighting. I always felt that Goku, Krillin, and Piccolo were the three best fighters in Dragonball. They've all performed well against fighters at thei...

Re: Boo arc too repetitive at times?
The second half of the Buu arc was pretty much worthless mainly because of the line "Don't worry! We can use the Dragonballs!" Piccolo reduced to a joke character to make way for the two asshole kids. Not one single attack on Buu inflicting any damage whatsoever until the Spirit bomb(I mea...

Re: Kai Episode 55 (02 May 2010)
That new ending is not horrible, and much, much better than Yeah Break! Really still disgusted with the OP/ED music choices in Kai. Dragon Soul is passable, but every vocalist sounds so J-pop shonen.
I honestly like Schemmel's vocals on the dub better than any of the Japanese Kai songs.

Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
Shemmel didn't start using his new Goku voice until the redub of seasons 1+2 and that last arc of Dragonball.
I think the voices are generally the same, but there is more subtlety in Sabat's Vegeta/Piccolo voices. Voices and acting are always becoming more nuanced.

Pretty enraged about Tri-Beam over here. I don't understand why, if so much great attention was paid to the script, that they would make such a glaring mistake to not give this attack it's proper translation?

Just saw that facebook fan club shit where Sean Shemmel says he's going to join Daizex. That guy is baller. Re: What's The First Episode You Watched? (When/Dub/Scene?)
One of the first episodes of the second Saban season. Where Bulma/Krillin/Gohan meet those kids and aren't mistaken for Freeza's men on that spaceship.
(It was) probably 1997 or so. It was on right before Megaman.
