Re: Dragonball Kai (FUNimation English) Dub: General Discussion

Actually that probably sounded completely asinine, but still that's how dubs do it. We don't hear Uzumaki Naruto, or Kurosaki Ichigo. We hear the 1st name then the last name. No other dub of an anime follows the pattern that Kai has just created (except one piece: Monkey D. Luffy).

Not all dubs ...

Re: Dragonball Kai (FUNimation English) Dub: General Discussion

Interestingly, when Frieza recovers from getting kicked, he mentions that that that was the first time he had to dust himself off since training with his father. Perhaps they were just covering up the implied child abuse?
Most likely for Nicktoons; I'd assume there'll be a more accurate line in ...

I spend too much time on NeoGAF

It's because NeoGAF is awesome. Are you registered on there or are you a lurker? As for the gif there was a better one with Shiggy popping out what looked like a venerable lake of money (like Scrooge McDuck's moneybin) with cash in both his hands. That would have ...

Whenever it was mentioned in the series (don't forget Devil-- one of Baba's fighters) I always assumed they were referring to hell.

Many series have a 'Makai', or Demon World, but that doesn't automatically mean it's hell (jigoku). Also keep in mind that if the Makai was hell then it's plausible ...

From what I've read, for the Japanese, they don't mind being told what happens, its that they want to see how it happens.

There was a story to go with this in one of my books back in college about an American woman married to a Japanese man(both living in Japan) and the newspaper gave an extremely ...

I'm just trying to make a point that maybe Sabat's change in style is preferential and totally unrelated to being a chain smoker.
I can say that smoking a pack a day won't do that to your voice, unless your job involves heavy vocal work. It's seen all the time with singer's, why would voice actor ...

And Slug. :)

Ye got me. :D

Movie 4 is the only DBZ movie I have yet to watch fully in any language.

Funny how the narrator voice is decent but Ginyu and Slug sound almost identical...

And I thought Kyle Hebert took over as narrator.

Kyle is the narrator for DBZ, they were just asking ...

Ah...yeah I forget his name, but he makes for a decent English counterpart to Jouji Yamani. I thought he did a pretty good job.

Brice Armstrong. You've heard him in DBZ as Ginyu in the redub as well as the Budokai games.

And Slug. :)

Hopefully the narration by then sounds less forced and less talkative. Less damn jokes, too, please. >:( They need to get the guy who did narration for Dragon Ball. He was awesome.

Hah, yeah, his voice changed. Smoking a pack a day can do that.

::sighs::

His voice has changed mainly in the way he approaches his characters. You see it in all his characters for this show, from Vegeta to Yamcha to Piccolo, as each season progresses from Season 3.

For those who've taped the ...
