Re: Vic Mignogna

First of all, y'alls that keep calling Mike out, no one has been banned for disagreeing with him, even in this thread. He's just made counter arguments in disagreement. You guys are acting like him stating his own opinion is censorious or something and that's ridiculous on it's face. The big issue ...

Re: Why doesn't Toei seek out Broadcast masters to improve the DB anime audio

I wasn't actually talking about foreign distributors with original audio. I was referring to the broadcast companies/stations which reside in Dragon Ball's own homeland of Japan that might still have television broadcast masters. It's highly doubtful that the broadcast companies still have the orig...

Re: Why doesn't Toei seek out Broadcast masters to improve the DB anime audio

Easy: that costs money. Toei doesn't want to do that. If I recall correctly, people owning recordings of the original broadcast offered them to Toei for free, which led to nothing True, but of course Toei would then have to make a re-issuing of the related anime and that costs a boatload of money! ...

Re: Dragon Ball Movies HD Remaster - Amazon Video/Netflix Japan - Discussion Thread

Given that Netflix now allows to download their shows and movies to be watched offline, are the NF versions of TOEI HD not somewhat superior to the AMZN ones? It's DRM'd but I guess in time that'll be unlocked (scene "warez" teams can and know how to). It's possible. Amazon's stream has b...

Re: Dragon Ball Kai - TV Airings with the Original Kenji Yamamoto Score

(e.g. I don't know for certain if the FUNi Nicktoons airings were definitely up to episode 63 with the Yamamoto score but seems it was). I can confirm that episode 63 was the last episode of the FUNi Nicktoons airing which used the Yamamoto score before switching over to Kikuchi for the rest of the...

while the fans will get upset, but they won't do anything. Do you seriously think that the die-hard DB fans are going to just sit by and allow this to happen without taking any form of action because if so you are sadly mistaken, the DB fanbase is very passionate about preserving this material in t...

Re: Dragon Ball Movies HD Remaster - Amazon Video/Netflix Japan - Discussion Thread

Can anyone provide a scan or photo of the back of box #6? I'm particularly looking for a scan/photo that shows this disclaimer: この作品には、映像、台詞の一部に、現在では不適当と思われる表現もありますが、作品の歴史的価値を重視し、現存する原版のとおり収録してあります。ご了承ください。 The disclaimer should be located near the bottom of the packaging, like on box #1 above the ...

Re: All-purpose Dragon Ball sale/trade thread.

The 38 unsold fansub tapes listed in my last post are still available and I've decided to drop the price to $38 (plus shipping). The Kai part 3-6 DVD's are still available and are now 7.25 per single disc and $10 for 2 discs. The 3 Japanese DVD singles are also still available and are now $10 per di...

About movie 5 it's the same version as Italian Deagostini Box it's a Great Error Toei Did, they switch the True remastered version with the SHIT DNR upscale they were using before and that they provide to italian Can you provide a screenshot of the Italian Blu-ray because I'm interested in seeing i...

Re: Dragon Ball Movies HD Remaster - Amazon Video/Netflix Japan - Discussion Thread

I feel like if they were going to DVNR the show then they would have done so with Kai first off. Kai episodes 1-98 actually do have DVNR on them, so the idea of DB/Z/GT getting some kind of DVNR treatment for the possible upcoming HD versions isn't entirely out of the realm of possibility (now gran...

Re: Dragon Ball Movies HD Remaster - Amazon Video/Netflix Japan - Discussion Thread

Did Toei actually DVNR the blu-ray release of the movies? If screenshots from different media players are yielding similar results then it's highly possible although why they would bother to go through the trouble makes little sense since everything was already finished from the start and adding mo...

Re: Dragon Ball Movies HD Remaster - Amazon Video/Netflix Japan - Discussion Thread

They were using footage from the Bardock special and probally didnt want to rescan it. That and the fact that 16mm will ALWAYS look softer than 35mm due to the detail difference between the two film stocks, there's just no getting around that unless Toei actually retained all of the original raw el...

Re: ANIMAX Japan channel will reissue Dragon Ball

Will it have the correct audio, or will it be the same as the Dragon Box? For the movies it's tough to say, I know the streaming versions used the optical tracks but the Blu-ray uses transfers of the original cinetapes so Toei could go either way on those, the TV series on the other hand (assuming ...

I got the first volume in the mail yesterday. It looks fantastic! Is there any way to take screenshots of BDs? CyberLink's PowerDVD doesn't let you. Apparently it's illegal? I lookt it up, but it seemd pretty stupid. Uhg... Both the "screen capture" button is greyd out AND the Print Scree...

Re: Original Dragon Ball anime to be released on Blu Ray in Spain

The second of that is impossible anyway considering the best sources from Japan are stereo at best (at least as far as I'm aware), so replacing the music would be impossible in the first place. Correct me if I'm wrong KBABZ but didn't kei actually somewhat succeed in doing just that at least once (...

Re: Dragon Ball Movies HD Remaster - Amazon Video/Netflix Japan - Discussion Thread

Up until Z movie 3, the VHS tapes were open matte. After that, they started being letterboxed, and the earlier movies were re-released letterboxed later as well. I recall kei17 mentioning this here many years ago. My VHS must be one of the later prints if that's indeed the case because it's definit...

Re: Dragon Ball Movies HD Remaster - Amazon Video/Netflix Japan - Discussion Thread

Not sure how much they considered this in their production, but a 4:3 production would make it much easier to air those films on TV back when 4:3 was the norm. Like I said, they were 4:3 safe, but framed for 1.85:1. Come to think of it, I actually don't recall if the versions aired on TV (and those...

Re: Dragon Ball Movies HD Remaster - Amazon Video/Netflix Japan - Discussion Thread

It's such a shame that the Bardock special is the only remaster not announced on Blu-ray. It's by far the one I want the most... If the upcoming Blu-ray release does well enough (which it probably will since the movies are going to be in 1080p and sourced from the original 35mm film masters, not to...
