Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
If the quality was up to that of the Level Sets, let’s just say I would have been desperately pushing for a disc exchange rather than a refund. I got this just wanting the show on Blu-ray in 4:3, but I was pretty lukewarm on it going in. I have the Dragon Boxes, but Blu-ray is more of a durable form...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
Well good news folks, I didn’t have to get my card involved. After my second prodding email I got this from FUNimation. Thank you for your patience as we’ve processed your damage report for the Dragon Ball Z 30th Anniversary Collector’s Set. Due to the exclusive nature of this item, a specialist (th...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
Seeing as how FUNimation is just ignoring me at this point, I almost want to push the chargeback timeline to tomorrow. I sent them another email this morning. I’m concerned because they charged for this thing all the way back in May. I may even just call my credit card company today. What a load of...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
Could’ve done without the dumb memes but otherwise pretty good comparison video. It does put things in better perspective seeing thing side by side and in motion, not just screenshots. Still radio silence from FUNi since their initial email. Do it FUNi, my credit card’s phone number is on speed dial...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
I’m not looking for sympathy because video-wise I knew what I was buying, but it’s shady as hell they didn’t show off anything as to how it would be packaged. I took a gamble and lost, so just a warning to those of you who did buy this to own the show in 4:3 - because I think you’re totally justifie...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
I'm flat out asking for a refund at this point. They asked me to tell them how many discs are scratched, so I went through each one to check for light to heavy scratching and in all a whopping 20 out of 37 discs were scratched, or 54% of the set. If this is a hopefully (okay, that phrasing is weird...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
EDIT - FUNi emailed back, basically saying that I can request replacements. I’m going to have to make clear that I do not want another set in cardboard sleeves sent, almost half the discs have some sort of scratching, and at this point I’m just going to ask for the refund and be done with it. Expla...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
Ooof... That's gonna be a naw from me. Oh boy I've ALWAYS wanted DBZ to look like a Flash cartoon! new page so re-upping my question which I think got lost Naw it showed up fine, at the end of the previous page. Never encountered this issue myself! My main thoughts on this is that, for $350, there ...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
Id also like to mention it's not just FUNi. The limited Batman TAS sets had the same issue with cardboard sleeves and fans hated it so for beyond they did stack disc digibook (of which peoples discs came loose and even mine came with a damaged disc). But a refund or replacement discs should be issu...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
I would suggest not trash talking and insulting Funimation if you want to be taken seriously by them. The people on their customer support line had nothing to do with anything that went into this set and having to read through emails that treat them as incompetent is only going to make their jobs m...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
I’ve tweeted at them, commented on Facebook, and emailed. If they ignore me for a week, then on Friday I’m starting the chargeback process. I’m not tolerating this. Goodwill wasted, FUNi can rot. Cardboard sleeves. What a joke! Here’s some free advice FUNi since you’re too stupid to put together a q...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
I completely understand the frustration the packaging while it looks really nice is unacceptable. I also expect scratches on my set but am hopeful it wont effect video playback. I don’t need to test it, I know it’s not going to work because it catches my fingernail. I don’t know what the hell they ...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
I don’t need to test it, I know it’s not going to work because it catches my fingernail. I don’t know what the hell they were thinking putting them in cardboard sleeves. Test it anyways..for science. Hopefully its not a widespread issue. I’ve owned a few sleeve type packaging releases for other thi...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
I take back every bit of goodwill I ever said about this set. Multiple discs are scratched because of course they are, they’re in cardboard sleeves! I was casing them up and checked each one, and after awhile I just gave up because every other disc was scratched and this one shown here is deep , as ...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
So the 37 disc set that we paid $350 for and is limited to 6,000 copies comes in cardboard sleeves? Yeah no. What were they thinking there? I find that even more unacceptable than how the remaster looks. You are inevitably going to have a situation where somebody gets a scratched disc or three and ...

Re: Looking to buy all the Japanese Dragon Boxes
In the end I believe Robo is right on this. When I made the decision to buy second hand Dragon Boxes, Dragon Ball saga sets, and GT individual volumes, I fully knew it was because I wanted to finally say I own the show on disc, let’s be honest it wasn’t for some crusade to support the creators becau...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
That first Piccolo shot looks like it’s from Episode 4 which is the one I checked out quickly before having to get back to work. In my not-at-all-expert analysis, the Level set beats it out but the 30th set doesn’t look all that bad. I’ve discovered I’m probably easier to please though then a lot of...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
Okay so here are my first impressions, I got mine too. I don’t have access to a proper computer with a disc player so sadly I can’t do screenshots. The video quality seems okay to me. There’s definitely film grain. I don’t have the Level sets to compare the two. It doesn’t really appear all that was...
