Re: All-purpose Dragon Ball sale/trade thread.
Hey all, times are obviously rough right now but extremely long story short I had to move out of my previous house and now renting a room with very little space for a collection. I decided with my OCD checking discs and cover art conditions that maybe I should shy away from keeping a physical media ...

Re: Long Live Chris Ayres
This is so incredibly sad, over the past few years I really thought there was a chance he was pulling through. There’s been so much death this past year, don’t take anything for granted and know how short life can be. Try to see the good even in the midst of all the bad. Know that people love you ev...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
I hate to be that guy , but all of these seiyuu are really getting up there in age. Masako Nozawa is 84. If they’re serious about continuing Super to a proper conclusion, I hope they are able to button up as much as possible well in advance of Fall 2023 so it can just be ready to air when the time ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
https://twitter.com/DB_super2015/status/1358226471991472128 Dragon Ball Super will have a rebroadcast starting on February 14th on BS Fuji every sunday at 10:00 AM (JST). If the anime returns after these reruns then that would be in fall of 2023. It's possible they're waiting for the manga to end s...

Re: How did you get into Dragon Ball?
I caught an episode of Dragon Ball playing one afternoon during its short-lived syndicated run, it had to have been on either UPN or WB. I don't remember which episode it was, but that theme song was certainly memorable. That was it for that though until either later that year or the next year when ...

Re: 30th Anniversary Blu-Ray vs. DVD Singles (Episode 68/118 onward)
They aired the entire UUE dub at least once. That’s where the whole “Dick Lasagna voiced Burter for the UUE dub but was redubbed by Sabat for the orange bricks” comes from and you can find air dates online. I think in the second run they randomly switched to the edited episodes with the Ocean cast ...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
You'd think that Freeza destroying Planet Vegeta in DBS Broly/DB Minus would've been a perfect time to add some context about Beerus ordering Freeza to destroy the planet. But NOPE nothing. I wonder if Toei, Toriyama and Toyotaru are just never going to acknowledge that was in Battle of Gods. I hop...

Looks like it's time to log in to Disney+, grab some hard liquor, and pretend it's 2009 all over again.

Re: 30th Anniversary Blu-Ray vs. DVD Singles (Episode 68/118 onward)
If you want the true definitive U.S. broadcast experience, the only way to go are the DVD singles. For the Saiyan and first half of the Freeza arcs (or the 'Namek arc' I guess you can call it?) it will be far cheaper to go for the old singles versus the Rock the Dragon set, and I think they look a l...

Re: What are the odds of us getting 4:3 Blu-rays of the Bardock/Trunks specials?
Don't forget, FUNimation treats the Bardock and Trunks TV specials as movies - as in feature films - not as specials. Every casual fan outside of Japan also probably thinks they're movies. They'll continue to be treated as such, so I hope everyone has their butts clenched for the inevitable 4K UHD r...

One word - Frieza. I can’t even search for anything Freeza related anymore without putting in that dumb spelling or else nothing will come up.

Re: A potential 4K release of DBZ...
A 4K release of any Dragon Ball series is never, ever, ever going to happen. Period. Period, period, period. You can only milk this thing so many times before people get fed up, the fate of the Level Sets are proof enough of that. Toei certainly isn’t going to do it, and FUNimation isn’t going to do...

Re: Is anyone still holding out for a new HD remaster from TOEI?
The time for them to do it would’ve been 2019 for the anniversary of Z, if it didn’t happen then it’s probably not happening. They probably feel ‘Well, we did Kai...and then we actually managed to finish it, so that’s good enough! Does anybody even remember Dragon Ball? That’s okay, we covered it in...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
If the quality was up to that of the Level Sets, let’s just say I would have been desperately pushing for a disc exchange rather than a refund. I got this just wanting the show on Blu-ray in 4:3, but I was pretty lukewarm on it going in. I have the Dragon Boxes, but Blu-ray is more of a durable form...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
Well good news folks, I didn’t have to get my card involved. After my second prodding email I got this from FUNimation. Thank you for your patience as we’ve processed your damage report for the Dragon Ball Z 30th Anniversary Collector’s Set. Due to the exclusive nature of this item, a specialist (th...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
Seeing as how FUNimation is just ignoring me at this point, I almost want to push the chargeback timeline to tomorrow. I sent them another email this morning. I’m concerned because they charged for this thing all the way back in May. I may even just call my credit card company today. What a load of...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
Could’ve done without the dumb memes but otherwise pretty good comparison video. It does put things in better perspective seeing thing side by side and in motion, not just screenshots. Still radio silence from FUNi since their initial email. Do it FUNi, my credit card’s phone number is on speed dial...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
I’m not looking for sympathy because video-wise I knew what I was buying, but it’s shady as hell they didn’t show off anything as to how it would be packaged. I took a gamble and lost, so just a warning to those of you who did buy this to own the show in 4:3 - because I think you’re totally justifie...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
I'm flat out asking for a refund at this point. They asked me to tell them how many discs are scratched, so I went through each one to check for light to heavy scratching and in all a whopping 20 out of 37 discs were scratched, or 54% of the set. If this is a hopefully (okay, that phrasing is weird...
