My thoughts:
Good
The animation was really nice. There were certain scenes that looked like they could have even come straight out of a movie, and I was really impressed with the amount of work it must have taken to do the shots were dozens of videos were being played at the same time.
The new ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima trailer, October release date announced
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think anime on prime time (golden time) is no longer a thing on Japanese television. OG DB, DBZ, and DBGT aired at golden time slots in Japan back then.
Yeah, Fuji TV doesn't really air animation in prime time anymore; it's either very late at night or Sunday ...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie #2 Thread: "Super Hero"
I noticed you didn’t touch on the transformations or the final boss. I think a lot of people are caught up on those things, and yes they are a little basic, but that shouldn’t be the main takeaway from this movie. Same with the CG. I have a friend who won’t watch in theaters for that reason alone ...

I just got back from seeing this.
I liked this movie a WHOLE lot better than the Broly one. The story was pretty decent (though nothing mind-blowing), the characterizations were great, and the new characters all really seemed to fit into the Dragon Ball universe with no problem.

Re: Episode #0489 (15 August 2021)
My interpretation is that the 原作 credit you see in anime serves the same purpose as the "Batman created by Bob Kane" type credit you see at the beginning of literally every piece of Batman media, for example. So I've been borrowing that wording whenever I translate anime credits. I can't think of a ...

Re: Episode #0448 (01 July 2018)
Pocket Monsters was never billed as a "promotional anime"; early advertisements for the show very specifically use the "TV Anime" tagline.
(but also, I know it's popular to treat Pocket Monsters as "just" a 30 minute toy commercial but it really isn't any more merchandise driven than any Japanese ...

Re: "Nintendo Classic Mini Famicom Weekly Shonen Jump 50th Ann. Version"
Are the Famicom Dragon Ball games any good?
In any case, my hope is that this does well so that a Nintendo Classic Mini Super Famicom Weekly Shonen Jump 50th Anniversary Version eventually comes out.

It's also important to remember that Pocket Monsters XY&Z has a much higher budget than Super, is airing in prime time as opposed to Sunday mornings, and isn't being animated by a production studio that's as stretched thin as Toei is.

Re: Episode #0392 (06 December 2015)
I think the criticism people have against the dub's Cell theme, at least, is how it's literally just the same six notes repeated over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. It sounds like the backing track to a rap song and while some people may like that I think a lot of us ...

Re: Episode #0390 (15 November 2015)
Didn't Super have a troubled production as well, given how little was revealed before the show came out? I remember plenty of people (myself included!) wondering if the show was actually going to make its July 5th debut given how the only real footage we had beforehand was a brief teaser trailer ...

Re: Episode #0390 (15 November 2015)
People point to Crystal often, but that was a web series first. Pretty huge difference.
Not really...? I don't see why Crystal debuting online first somehow makes it a more likely candidate for retakes than Dragon Ball Super is.
A better example would be something like any random poor-looking ...

Yes, amazingly enough, brick-and-mortar DVD rental stores are still very much a thing here in Japan. There are theories as to why they still exist that range from "the old people in this country hate change" (a problem that affects many other things) to "the bigger chains have mafia ties that allow ...

They showed planets geting vaporized ,and stars going supernovas ,it wasn't only with the satan city and the kaioshin's relam.
I'm talking more about reactions of people in other cities on Earth (Upa's village, Karin's Tower, West City, etc.), or reactions on planets like Namek.

Re: Super Episode 13 (04 October 2015)
The only thing I didn't really like about this episode (and the last one, really) was how the entire universe is supposed to be in this grave danger and yet they only ever showed us the reaction in Satan City and Kaioshin's realm. There's no sense of scale to this at all.

Re: Anybody already stopped watching Super?
I think one thing to keep in mind is the fact that Super is the first time the overwhelming majority of American fans haven't been able to just binge watch the whole thing all in one go. Cartoon Network aired most of the series five days a week; we Americans just aren't used to waiting a full week ...
